The blockbuster trade we need to make isn't for Maxx, IMO. It's for a star WR like Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase.

Bosa/Williams will return. Aiyuk won't and he left a burning hole in the roster.

Jefferson is signed through the next 3 years. Chase for the next 4. Jefferson is set to make about $40 million per year. Chase only slightly less.

They would make less with a trading team due to dead cap hits, much closer to about $30M/yr.

That said, I don't think it happens. Back-to-back 1sts probably isn't enough for the Vikings/Bengals to think about it unless one of them wants out and Aiyuk is likely dead weight in any trade.

One that I will add that isn't quite as good but would be MUCH more plausible and feasible:

Garrett Wilson. Especially since the Jets are not likely to take a QB at #2 overall at this point.

Since the Jets are unlikely to take a rookie QB, they might go ahead and throw Garrett Wilson into the fire-sale they did last season for the right price.

To be fair, the 2025 class does appear to be one of our best in recent seasons.

Agreed. It didn't have any superstars but we got a group of guys that have been contributors on a playoff team. If we play our cards right, this group will help form the foundation of the roster and we can build on top of that by drafting and signing some big time talent these next 2 offseasons. This past year was year 1 of a 2 or 3 year roster build. Remember guys like Jimmy Ward, Armstead, K'Waun, Moseley…these weren't superstars but they were key pieces we added right before Kyle took over and at the beginning of his tenure that formed the foundation for the 2019 - 2023 squads.

I know you try to see the worst in everything, but think about it for a second. You lose the first and third round pick to injury. I wonder if that would affect the draft grade, d'yer think?

Third round pick was a massive reach. That makes it even worse.

if we can't get Waddle on a trade, Wilson should be the next target..

We need WRs that got some wheels !!

this report must have been from Shanny's team.. he's always made it known to want somebody else when the player he isn't working out..

I think it's very simple:

The media pretended they knew who we were going to draft because they hate looking like they don't know things, so they continuously insisted it was Mac Jones. Because they were wrong with egg all over their face, they've been trying to back track with contradictory stories saying "well the 49ers were GOING to draft Mac UNTIL…"

Trey Lance is not a Kyle Shanahan QB.

He needs a QB to stay on schedule and make proper reads like Kirk Cousns. Lance is not that guy but Mac Jones is.

Shanahan hated the Trey Lance pick 100%. It's why he didn't let him throw when he played and called designed QB keepers. He had no trust in him.

Teams are desperate for QBs at at one point Mac was leading the league in pass YPG with Kendrick Bourne as his top receiver.

There will be a market for him and I can't see us holding onto him. We will do right by him and trade him to a team that has some structure. AZ is my bet.

Michael Wilson and two 2nds is nothing for a starting QB

You always whine about injuries, yet you want to trade for Waddle?!

I still don't know what my thoughts are here. Mac has really grown on me so don't want to say his story seems not correct but from Shanahan's lips to our ears multiple times. He was on vacation in Cabo. He had made his way to Lance and looked at every snap and every play from his college days. He said the more he watched the more he was surprised what he was seeing. It got to a point he was going all in Lance. He said he took all his work and put together a feed for Lynch to watch. Lynch said he got the film late one night and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning watching. He too, the more he watched, the more blown away he was. He came into the office with little sleep after the long night of film watching and they talked. It was too good. The decision made and for a brief time all excitement in the 49er house.

This is the story I have heard from the beginning right after the initial draft. The story has never changed. I appreciate Mac and his side of things but it does not match what has always been known and said as the true story that week in Cabo as Kyle studied Lance film and began getting woodies.

On what Koldo's grading scale?

Who does draft grades after one season?
