Damn. They need to stop overthinking it and just draft bpa.

Thank you I've been screaming this! They go into the draft locked into that position and that player and it leaves them great players on the board because they feel they don't need that position. They just need talent every where regardless the position, this team has no depth and still depending on the likes of Kittle and Warner guys they drafted when they took the job

Complain about drafting Kinlaw and then praise the guy who was part of drafting Kinlaw and then signing him to a nice size contract 8 months ago after 4 years of showing nothing.

My post was sarcasm.

You can't just take BPA. What if the BPA is a position where you have no need? You just going to use him as a backup instead of trying to fill a glaring weakness? It has to be the BPA that can fill a need and also fits your system.

Other organizations have more respect for people in the 49ers' organization than some of our own fans do.

Here's how it should work..you identify numerous positions that need updates ie LG, LT, center, LB, pass rusher, WR, TE and free safety. Using this lens, only then do you select BAP. So let's say it's our pick in the first round. Everyone knows we need pass rush, but the highest rated center is the BAP. Instead of REACHING (and the word " reaching" is very applicable) for the 5th highest rated pass rusher ala Drake Jackson, you take the higher rated center!

The Niners don't understand this concept and as a result, they consistently REACH for their draft choices.

AMEN. We need to get this post to the FO. They constantly reach for need. It's a pretty glaring flaw in there drafting system at this point. I guess it's their philosophy b/c they continue to do over and over. What idiot really thought it was smart to take Moody in the 3rd round?

Sound logic! Why is it our guys on the Draft War Room forum draft better than the team. We whiff way more than we hit; whoever has the final decision needs to stop. This is our team's downfall. We're aging and we can't draft. Thats why Seattle and the Rams have a better roster.

I'm sure the 49ers know how it works. Just because you think some other player should be picked doesn't mean they think he'll be a good fit. Sure they make mistakes like every team but they know how it works. They must be doing something right because even though they haven't been drafting in the top 15 most years they've managed to get in the playoffs and make it to 2 SBs. That's a lot better than nearly every other team including the ones with a lot of high picks and a ton of cap space.

I emphasize drafting in the top 15 because i most drafts the talent drops off considerably after those first 15 picks. Still some good players but the chances of getting an all pro impact player go down. The further down you draft the more you might have to reach. That means you're taking a bigger chance.

The same idiot that drafted Moody is the same guy that built the team that's been to 4 NFC title games and 2 SBs. Some idiot named Bill Walsh drafted a roided up Jeff Bregal in the 2nd round. Terrance Flagler and Todd Shell in the first round. Signed Renaldo Nehemiah. He drafted a loyt of great players but he had some major misses too.

Even the best ones make mistakes.

These mods are the David Lombardis of this forum.

Its a fair question. I dont see anyone raiding the Cardinals for their personnel guys on a year in and year out basis.

This and the 2017 class is why I never want to jump to conclusions about a draft after one season.

However I do think at minimum Puni will bounce back. I think he played through that knee injury all year and it's just not as impactful as it is for a WR who relies on their cuts to get open.

I am more confident in this last class but obviously we have to see how they keep playing to know for sure. Green...hoping he rebounds but out of all positions it feels like corners are the most year to year outside of the elite guys. Hopefully with better play in the front 7 he bounces back as well.

Mustafa....I dunno, hopefully just depth at worst. Guerendo feels like another Kyle must have at RB who is bounced after getting into the doghouse for some reason. Cowing I still like but hard to know without seeing him. He's on thin ice for sure.

They don't have coaches from the Mike Shanahan coaching tree. B.Arians was the last great HC they had...ownership just keeps getting it wrong.

Puni was getting owned by Seattle....he's still a question mark. Probably a good player down the road but I'm having doubts he gets further than that.

History is your friend.

Last year, Puni played against a tougher schedule of teams and finished in the top 15 of all guards. This year, he was injured at the beginning and never got back to his ranking of last year despite playing an easier schedule.

With that background, it is far more realistic to assume he will be much better next season than he was this year.
