So when they trade for someone, what's the narrative gonna be then?

You know the answer. There will be some that say we gave up too much. Some that will say we should have gotten someone else. A few that will say it's a good trade.

With the Warner injury, the needs become much more overwhelming for one trade to address the situation. Some considerations, pro and con:

- Perhaps trading for Trey Hendrickson, it could work if he signs an extension. That might make Bosa a trade candidate when he returns given salaries...
- Warner is a tougher question. I'm not sure what he's going to be when he returns. What is the status of the whole second level without him, and does a trade help at this stage.
- I'm concerned about giving up too much draft capital. The team drafted well over the last two drafts. The 2026 draft needs to address the Oline, amongst other considerations.
- I'm not sure what the team's thoughts are on safety.

- Overall, coming into the season, I was hoping the team might grab an Olineman at the trade deadline. With the need at pass rush, the loss of Warner, and the continuing return of WRs and offensive players, I'm not sure a midseason trade is prudent right now. The team might be better off letting the talent develop and letting the chips fall where they are. Another full draft in the offseason is likely what the doctor ordered.

They have plenty of draft picks and already have a ton of 1st and 2nd yr players playing meaningful snaps.

they should absolutely make a move for a player(s) that can be here for more than a season. Adding one or two players doesn't hurt development for anyone else.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I saw another of your posts around pass rusher being most important. If the price is right, I agree with that sentiment. The biggest area of need is getting to the QB, and the young line looks pretty good if they have a real stud rushing the passer. I still hold out hope that perhaps they snag an O-Lineman as well to enhance that side.

Fans are always concerned about giving up draft capital but then they complain that the 49ers don't draft well.

I know you're probably half joking but they have the least cap space in the league before doing this at under $500k. They kinda had to do something just in case.

JUST DO IT IF YOU'RE GOING TOO QUIT STALLING!
Bitonio is the one that makes the most sense

if we're gonna do anything this year, its gonna be on offense, but we our offense can't function with the current OL... we have a 7th round rookie starting at LG, start there

it takes 2 to tango
and if we're targeting a guy with a large contract (like Trey Hendrickson), then the closer to the deadline the less of a cap hit he is

our next three games are very win-able, even with all the holes we have

Barch should be coming back soon. They aren't gonna trade for a guard, you know this

I think a realistic assessment of the situation is that the Super Bowl will be a pretty tough get this year. Not saying it's impossible, but pretty unlikely with all of the injuries. Why give away draft picks and cap space for a year that has so much going against it. I think they're at a point now where they have to consider what's best for the team long term, going all in on in a difficult year, or continuing to build the foundation for a team that can compete for the next 5 years,

I suspect they'll get through the next two games and see where things stand. On paper, they would appear to have three notably tough games left, based on the play around the league at the moment - Rams, Seattle, and Indy. But if this year has shown us anything it's that just about any team can win a game at just about any time, so who knows what's possible. 11-6, 10-7? Either of those will probably get you into the playoffs, but without your two biggest stars on defense and both your QBs dealing with nagging injuries, how far will they get after that? They'll certainly have a lot of things to think about moving forward

Super Bowl or bust, stop being cheap lynch

Judging by your b!tching today do you really think this? When have they been cheap? They have been one of the more aggressive teams in the trade market the past few years.

The short-term goal right now should be to make the playoffs and try to make a run.

This team should not trade anything more than a 6th for a rental—only for 2026+ players.

Both can be true.

Agree. No rentals unless its for a pick swap or something minimal. Need guys who fit in the long term.
