Man that's a lot of words to say "the 49ers could trade for an edge and they might not!"

Odd that they're still bringing up Trey Hendrickson though. Unless he comes with an extension that's a bad trade to make right now IMO.

Overall it sounds like they are active when it comes to improving the roster, which they should be.

I will be shocked if they don't add a defensive lineman before the deadline.
The whole point of the Fred Warner injury is that Lynch now has an excuse not to spend any money. So forget about trades and new salary.

I'd be shocked too. I just hope it's for someone noteworthy that will actually make a difference

So when they trade for someone, what's the narrative gonna be then?

You know the answer. There will be some that say we gave up too much. Some that will say we should have gotten someone else. A few that will say it's a good trade.

Essentially what youre saying is full rebuild. If you're not playing for "right now," you might as well trade Trent, CMC, Kittle, Jennings, Juice, and Aiyuk. Hell Bosa and Warner are also unknowns moving forward at this point as well.

Can you give some examples of when Lynch has used this excuse in the past?

There are players who could be had for <$1M in new salary. Not every player's contract is like Trey Hendrickson or Jeffrey Simmons.

Holy cow why does every single opinion these days need to be labeled an "all" or "nothing" opinion?

My take is simply don't trade a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th for a player who is only signed exclusively for 2025. That's all. Just because I don't think we should trade notable draft capital for a player with only 10 games left on their contract doesn't mean I'm in favor of trading everyone on our team lmao. It doesn't even necessarily mean I think this season is a waste.

Right now, I believe we have about a 3% chance of winning the Super Bowl this season. Don't make a trade that increases that to about 5% but hurts us in 2026 and beyond. That's a sound opinion, not a "blow it up" one.

PS All the players you mentioned are signed for 2026.

McDonald I could see it. Agree that Gary probably isn't. Packers would've traded him in the Parsons trade if he was.

Hey, I would be happy. But you have to ask what is the payback for spending money/giving up draft when there's no fred, no nick, and 2 pretty decent qb's that will be taking 6-10 hits a game between now and december.
