Schefter's article mentions Hendrickson, Chubb, Phillips, Jordan and Key as trade candidates. Justin Simmons is not mentioned (Shelby Harris is the only DT name on the list).

I got a feeling the 9ers will come away with a DT and DE at the trade deadline. 49ers are pretty thin at DT so it won't surprise me if they do.

The responsible thing is to trade for a quality player at both roles. The key is to not handicap yourself going forward while doing it.

it would be shocking, and hugely disappointing, if we don't make a trade for at least one of those positions. It's not even a "would be sweet if we bolster the Dline". It's more of a"Jesus Christ we need help and need to make a trade".

if we want a real chance of making noise in the playoffs - we need to have some resemblance of a pass rush.otherwise, no way we don't lose quickly in the post season

Well if Jeffery Simmons is not mentioned that will be the player Lynch will trade for.

Doesn't work cap wise, if the 49ers trade him now they'd save literally nothing in 2025, as for 2026 there'd be $52,350,424 in dead money, a loss of $10,321,319 in cap room.

Why not both? Often times, in fantasy football when I'm debating between two players for a final spot, the right choice is to start them both and bench the player in the other starting spot (unless he's a super star) more often than not.

So in this case - let's get Hendrickson for a one-year rental, and then also Maxx Crosby, and worry about next year's roster, with the Bosa implications, next year

A DE that could also help out on special teams? What's the downside? Trey Hendrickson wouldn't help us on special teams. Maxx Crosby wouldn't help us on special teams.

That reminds me of when they signed Jordan Willis and made that trade for Charles Omenihu. That gave the Niners maybe their best depth on the D-Line under Kyle for the 2021 PO against Dallas, Green Bay and The Rams.
