That's… literally not true…

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space#google_vignette

We're at the bottom in 2027-2028 cap space but we are not in the red in any season, not even 2026 before accounting for rollover.

I heard this morning on KNBR that it may indeed change next year if they go out and make a trade. In any case they don't have a lot of room to make a deal if it impacts next season when several salaries are set to rise. Current projections are about $17 million in cap space in 2026 but that can disappear in the blink of an eye with the way players and agents are demanding crazy renegotiations.

We also apparently save another $7M in 2026 space because of Bosa's injury. So that alone could probably account for any move we make at the deadline.

Those projections they were making on KNBR were based on any trade that might bring in a high priced player. Cap space changes constantly with all the renegotiations and acquisitions that take place. My statrement was based on what they were saying on the radio not on what the actual current numbers are. They were simply projecting a possible scenario.

Two firsts, a third rounder, and the third overall pick.

Just get Kayvon Thibodeaux from the Giants

LOL

Regarding the bengals TE, Trey, I wonder what it would take. What's the comp pick to the bengals for him leaving in free agency? It would have to be more than that.

he would most likely be a one year rental unless we gave him a pretty big 2-3 year extension - which idk if we can afford him.

id love it if we made a blockbuster trade for him but I also think it's very unlikely, so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Not even close. Probably wouldn't even take a first rounder. Third rounder and probably a fourth rounder would do. At this point though, I would imagine they would like Mac Jones.

It's going to take one 2026 2nd rounder at the minimum, unfortunately. Think similar to what the Rams traded for a Von Miller rental in 2021 (2nd + 3rd).

Contractually it actually makes sense for us because Bosa's injury insurance will essentially cover the cap cost for Hendrickson. But the draft compensation will inevitably suck for us. Would hope for a 2027 3rd round comp pick coming back if he walks (that's the best possible comp pick).

If come November 3rd all it takes is our 2026 2nd, I'd just bite the bullet and do it. We'd be punting a pick to a year and round later (2027 comp 3rd) and cap space would be a wash with Bosa insurance. If it takes MORE than a 2026 2nd then things get dicey. Really don't want to give up too much draft capital. We really need one more good draft to have another Super Bowl window in 2027-2030.

They're joking. They're referring to Trey Lance on the Chargers.
Sad that the 49ers or any other team hasn't worked out for Trey!
We actually worked this guy out ?

T-Bo a 3-4 OLB in my opinion... he'll never be a down DE..

Trey is a pure 4-3 END.. he'll be WAYYYYYYY better than Cowboy was when he played for us !!

LETS GOO TREYYYY !!!

NOT YOU BABY FACE LANCE !!!!

Giants likely 0-8 when the play us. They should be in thinking about next year when the face us.
