He desperately tried to resign Dre and was reportedly offering more than the Broncos to retain him. Dre wanted to get out from Fred's shadow is the only reason he's not on our IR.

Not at all sure it was because of Fred's shadow, also not sure Lynch tried "desperately" to re-sign him. Supposedly offered more per year, but I think he got 4 years from Denver.

Yeah, not sure I'd agree totally. What does "reportedly" even mean anymore? If they really wanted I'm sure they could have made it happen.
In the end, they let him walk, it was the right decision for the team overall.

Niners made offer, broncos beat it, niners then offered more and greenlaw said no. It is what it is.
I was a bit cynical over John Lynch at first having very little to no experience as a GM. But now really the guy has grown on me. Loved him as a player and a person.

Kyle flat out said that visiting Greenlaw was the first time he'd ever flown out to a free agents home to try and convince him to stay.

There's no reportedly about it. They desperately wanted him to stay.

"You know, the Niners were trying to get back Dre Greenlaw, even after Denver had an agreement done with him," Schefter said on Denver's Altitude Sports Radio 92.5 FM. "They were pushing to get that done. And they were trying to flip his decision."

Lol, desperately is a word in the English language but I wouldn't categorize this as desperate. John Lynch spoke about what happened after it happened. I understand people gravitate towards interesting headlines but again:

Niners made offer, broncos beat it, niners then offered more and greenlaw said no. It is what it is.

Yeah, but "more" doesn't always mean "more" really. More for 1 or 2 seasons doesn't mean more in total which was the impression I got.

Right, it also had to do with Greenlaw wanting to play the role Fred does. This came from Greenlaw himself. His father said "you always want to be pippen? Or do you want to be MJ?". Essentially saying that he can go elsewhere and "be the man".

even though I don't think any of us ever thought of Greenlaw as a second fiddle. I always viewed them as a dynamic duo.

anyways, I hope Dre heals and recovers well. Hate to see him injured, but at least this isn't our problem anymore.

He only got a 3yr deal from Denver, we offered more money over same amount of years, Idk if they were desperate but they wanted to retain him, but maybe that was more on Saleh wanting him back, cause everyone was saying Dee Winters was looking like another Greenlaw like player.
For the 1st time in a long time the 49ers have dawg in the organization from top to bottom.

They've had violent teams but there was something missing. They have that dawg in them now.

Robert Saleh- dawg
Pearsall shot survivor- dawg
Warner 100% leader- dawg
New kicker Piñeiro- dawg
