After seeing some of these contracts that OL are getting, I doubt we are looking at FA for a C.

Draft and hoping Nugent takes that next step this off season
Going with Nugent & a draft pick would be a recipe for disaster.

I've learned to calm down about offseason additions over the last few years. I have my preferences and so far...it hasn't been great.

However we really don't know how things will shake out. Nugent was a starting Center for a big time program. You never know what can happen if he's forced to start, just like most of us weren't expecting much from Purdy. I know after Lance got hurt and then Jimmy...I thought our chance at a real run was completely f'd. Yet Brock came in and played better than both of them and it was only until he got hurt that our season really ended(then again by the time your QB3 goes down...good luck to any squad)

Also possible we go with Zakelj or Matt Hennessy there. I would've liked to have signed Dalton cuz I think he was a great fit but it is what it is...

Didn't everyone expect the bills to be ass last year because they had so many cap casualties? Yeah we don't have Josh Allen but that doesn't mean the sky is falling.

This is 9ers talk you know how s**t goes here where the off season isn't even done and we're already being penciled in for 3rd in the division
The amount of cash these free agents are getting is ridiculous, and most are older vets or younger unproven guys. I'm glad we are staying away, we just need to sign Dre, he's a priority. With 11 picks, 4 in the first 100 we can restock quickly and much cheaper.

DJ Reed to Lions
Really surprised to see the money our ex players are getting. Moore. Kinlaw. Im feeling like this is going to be a down year. But its ok if we nail the draft. If Josh Allen just got $55m/yr, $45m/yr to Brock seems fair. The next bad contract to haunt us, Trent Williams in 2026. But 2027 the books are pretty clean.

Agreed! Dre is the only FA we really need to resign.

But then last year hit and nobody was able to step up after injuries hit us hard. We can't rely on luck.

We need to refill the cupboards, question is how do we do that?

I posted a vid of Nugent and how he did in his snaps. He did not disappoint. But is always ? with a first time starter

Probably just been laughing his ass off at the contracts that have been handed out.

I posted weeks ago that he would go somewhere else

Why sign guys that he has to overpay if he's not sure they can really help. The Niners have to make sure they can pay Purdy whatever it ends up being. They have 12 draft picks so maybe this is the year they get younger and improve the roster without signing high priced free agents who are at the end of their career.

Yes that should work, this has been our approach to the O-line since KS got here outside of the LT position.
I'm starting to think the niners have been smart to signal increased salary prudence. Some of these contracts are just so expensive.
