Watson really did destroy that team. His cap hit is $73M the next to yrs and they can't get out of that. At this pt just tell him to stay home and focus on getting a new QB via the draft.

those are incompatible moves tho. logically, it doesn't make sense to be a destroyed team with a highest paid non QB. he's wrecking games for a team that goes 5-12. by the time the team is competitive, garrett will be fully washed.

cleveland is already in the mess. i'd liquidate everyone, eat the dead cap and totally rebuild that joint. now you may have to just be stuck with fully gtd watson, fine, we'll develop young guys while that watson deal plays out. hope to come out the other side like andy dufrane.
This is what I'd think they are screwed the next 2 years in a stacked division, bite the bullet and start the rebuild. It usually takes 2 years to evaluate and let young talent develope anyway

Not that I see it's plausible but didn't the Texans send draft picks to the Browns to take on Brock Osweilers contract? Maybe they can work something out with the raiders 😂

I know. That's why I think it's not just about money. He already got a huge deal. He probably wants to win.

That deal was in 2020. I don't believe he has any GTD cash left (I could be wrong). It's kinda the same thing that happened with Trent. Dude wanted GTD cash.

I'm sure he's frustrated with not winning and he knows wherever he goes he will be the highest defensive player. So it's really either pay me ridiculous amounts of money to play on the browns or move me. He's got Cleveland by the nuts lol.

And they can't move him without making the team both financially and personnel wise worse.

They would also have one of the highest paid QBs actually lol. Toss in one of the highest paid CB rooms and OL rooms.

It's a weird situation and a perfect example why restructuring isn't always the right move.

maybe they tear it all to the ground and completely suck for a couple yrs. The FO and coaching staff wouldn't be down for that though.

The Raiders aren't winning anything with or without Garrett.

I was implying the browns give away draft capital to another team to take on part of Watsons contract not trade for Garrett. The Texans did that with osweiler, they gave the browns a 2nd round pick to just take him to help get them out of cap hell. Watsons contract is so ridiculous along with the stigma he brings only team dumb enough to consider it would be the raiders. Meant to be a joke more than anything
