Yup, and we needed some bulk purchasing to just get a Jumpstart on climbing out of the dumpster. But everytime we get even a little better, and we just did at several positions, it makes a huge difference at the end of the season. And I said before, it sets a tone. I don't see us shaping up as a 2-14 team again. Still a long way to go, but we have stopped the train heading south, and turned it around the other way I think.

Guys, we've signed 4-5 C-level players. We had $100 million in cap room. Let's not get too excited until we get some real difference makers in the building.

Why shouldn't we be excited? Its not like any of us are screaming "SUPER BOWL!!". We are just excited to see them doing SOMETHING and filling a few of the holes they need to fill.

as for "C-Level players", how do you figure? Kyle Juszczyk is one of if not THE best FB in the NFL and this is a team that will use the FB ALOT. Garcon is a very good player who knows Kyles offense. Hoyer is a perfect stopgap/backup for a team with no QBs. Goodwin...who knows but that speed has my attention.

Point being people can be excited to BEGIN the journey back to relevancy and today is a good start. LONG way to go and I don't think anyone is kidding themselves otherwise.
We should absolutely be optimistic. I'm simply reacting to those who are already drawing conclusions of John Lynch as a GM. These types of moves were expected. We should be happy about them, but let's see if we land any big fish/see how these smaller moves work out before we overreact.

And I say Garcon is a C-level player because he's definitely below Jeffery, who I think is a B-level player. The A-level players don't get to FA (OBJ, Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, etc). And I'm not knocking Juszczyk. He's obviously a top-tier full back. But I wouldn't consider any fullback anything more than a C-level player (and the money reflects that in spite of him being the highest paid FB in the league).

I get the feeling that was like the weird kid nobody likes saying "I'm gonna invite everyone to my birthday party, it's going to be the best." and then only his Grandma shows up.

Garcon and Juscscskjjshk are B+ at least.

And it's a big upgrade from F.

I'm not hating on either signing. I like both players. But we had $100m in cap space and it's not like either are game changers.

I'm just saying this was expected. We shouldn't be all over Lynch's nuts for simply signing a few decent players when we really had no other choice. Now if we get an Alshon Jeffery, Donta Hightower, AJ Bouye, etc, then we would actually have something to celebrate about.

The only reason I disagree is because we have waited for years to actually go out and get some decent free agents. The team has had cap space for a while now, and hasn't used it, which is why Lynch has $100 mil to work with. So now that we've waited 3 or so years for this, people have hope. That's where the excitement comes from IMO.

Impressed thus far. I'll wait for the draft for full judgement.

Yeah, be awesome if we get those guys. My guess the unreasonably priced FAs will land last, so there's still a chance.

We had no QB's on the roster so signing Hoyer, Cutler, or Taylor (if he was cut) had to happen. And is Pierre Garcon regarded any higher than Torrey Smith was when we signed him?

I feel like everyone is thinking I'm hating on what we're doing. I'm not. I actually like all the signings, but we had $100m in cap room. Twice as much as Baalke ever had. We were going to sign several players no matter what, and we still haven't signed any of the upper echelon FA's. Let's cool the Jets here.

Garcon is B minimum IN THIS OFFENSE. Juice is A+. In fact, every signing is a perfect fit and have clear roles. That's how you need to review every acquisition.
I see Lynch taking out the trash, and bringing in solid players. And maybe better than solid. Not wasting money just to waste it, but not being cheap either. I like it.

He's just another damn joy poacher. Like Tom Coughlin always looks like he sucked on a lemon even when up by 50.

I cant blame the fans for being excited for a front office that is actually being productive in the offseason.
