Agreed, JL has done a great job to date. Trades, draft, and UDFA picks …he seems to specialize there. However, we are coming to the final part of the "acquisition" contest where JL also excels… at end of every trading season, & just after the last cuts are made he seems to always bring someone into camp that has a shot of breaking into the 53. Am excited about who he happens to bring in this time.

I've been very critical of shanalynch. After looking at last years draft i need to eat some crow. This looks to be their best draft yet. So much potential.

It looks solid although I think the point still remains on the pick that most of us were most irate over. Spending our second most premium pick on a late day 3 projected rb (TDP) looks to be a massive waste (as was the Sermon/Banks picks last year for same reason). Unless there's some insane talent sitting there in Rd 3, wait till late day 3 to roll the dice on backs.

Agree on this being their best draft. Its deep and talented. ShanaLynch is getting better and better every year at this stuff.

I agree 💯%, in hindsight, I'd have loved a right tackle pick at the TDP spot. UDFA Mason looks better than TDP and we really need some RT depth. My pet conspiracy theory is that Assistant Head Coach Anthony Lynn was pounding the table for TDP, but I have no proof whatsoever on that.
Next year, instead of a RB draft pick, i hope they just recruit two or three UDFA RBs with some nice guaranteed money to the team, specially if Coach Turner comes back as RB coach.

I simply can't believe a draft pick didn't hit.
The good teams get all their picks right.

Once Jimmy's cap hit is gone, I'm hoping ShanaLynch trades for a nice Right Tackle talent before the trade deadline. I'm anticipating Trent having more ankle isses as it gets into late this season.

Yeah, you and everyone else. There's always head scratching moves by any GM in the league but when you look at the body of work, he's tops in the league imo

I am increasingly interested in them taking a Patriots type approach to the draft, where you trade back to get more picks and don't flinch at ditching early round picks for quality vet players in trade. We are proving to be really good at scouting talent in rounds 3-5 in a way that very few organizations can. That model seems well suited to the talents of our front office.

I suspect that Lynch would not leave until after the mission has been accomplished. Even then once we get that one, we'll want two, and so forth.

I think you can trade back and get more late round draft picks if you have solid coaching like Coach Turner, Coach Kocureck, Demeco Ryans on your staff, and other coaches that can make up for not getting high round draft talent. McKittrick was something like that for Walsh. Kyle is a genius in picking up RB's in the late to UDFA rounds. You can't do that if you lose good coaches, and I am convinced that we're going to lose Demeco next year. So yes, I agree - they have been doing a fantastic job in the late rounds and UDFA, but keep on eye on our coaching staff and make sure we continue to get good quality coaches. I think Brian Griese is potentially another coaching gem because he was able to spot Purdy.
