This is basically how I feel - Smith wasn't used correctly by Tomsula or Kelly, so his two years here were more of a waste of everyone's time than it was an indictment of his play, IMO.

Hopefully they make some moves to improve the WR, because now they just added another hole to plug.

I remember when they cut Boldin and replaced him with a CFL player. I will be satisfied with the Smith move if the 49ers have three WRs on the team next year that outperform T Smith in 2017.

Also, Boldin wasn't cut. He was a veteran free agent and wanted to play for a better team.

That I agree with. The FO was so dysfunctional at the time they couldn't replace him adequately if they wanted to. That's how we end up grossly overpaying someone like Torrey Smith to come here.

so your highest paid receivers min bar is barely scratching out top three on a bad team...fair enough, i still question if he will pull it off.
