they still seem to be making the playoffs most of the time. Is it really that much of a big deal?

This.

Yea more than us even, who really should be laughing

49ers made it to the Super Bowl without giving up ONE 1st round pick.

Ok... And? Rams also made a SB, and made multiple playoffs, all that with a terrible QB. All this shows that both ways are viable. And now they probably will be the favorites in the NFC.

Both ways are viable, but which way is the smarter one?? Sure draft picks are a gamble, but this is a huge gamble. One slip us and the Rams set their franchise back for years. And the thing is, if they do win a SB they still set their franchise back. All this while the 49ers keep moving forward.

SB is always the main goal. Theres still teams that haven't won one in their entire history. You think they would care if they set their team 5-10 years back and they win a SB? You think the Eagles rather give the SB back then be in salary cap hell right now? Come on...

Give their Super Bowl back, no, that's not reality. But I do believe they care about setting their team back, in the end that what gets people fired, what's Doug Peterson doing right now??

So now we will be hanging banners every time we sweep the Lambs.

Forget about NFC West Champions banners.

Let alone Super Bowl Champions banners.

I'm betting a deal to protect Jimmy. Some sort of deal for an all pro lineman (maybe signing Trent?) or getting a good free agent center (Mack?) All ShanaLynch have to do is keep Jimmy upright and good things will happen!

Maybe we pick up a solid veteran receiver? I remember jimmy looking significantly better in 19 after we picked up Sanders.

Bro people are lauding the Rams for...making the playoffs. Just making it. Who cares?

Yup. Essentially Aiyuk was a Sanders replacement. So just staying pat (and I'm sure ShanaLynch won't) you have DeeBo, Kittle, Aiyuk - and that's a pretty good super bowl level passing offense right there which was very similar to DeeBo/Kittle/Sanders offense in 2019.

There is no way the 49ers would trade that much draft capital for a 33-year old QB. Not happening. Both Lynch and Shanny would get canned for a move like that.

Besides, Stafford ain't all that good to begin with. If he was that good, the Lions would have been in the playoffs year after year after year.

You're trippin. Stafford is a better QB than Matt Ryan and 33 is hardly old for a QB.

Stafford couldn't even win a playoff game with the number 1 defense, and Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate as his receivers. He is good, but really would be a small upgrade over Jimmy G.

Small upgrade?

Stafford can make throws that Jimmy can only dream of making. Man, we are in for a rude awakening this season. The Rams just took it up a notch, regardless of what they gave up. And many of y'all are failing to see that right now.

People said the same thing when they sent 2 1sts for Ramsey. Said the same thing about the Bears when they sent 2 1sts for Mack. Said the same thing about the Hawks when they sent 2 1sts for Adams. Yet, all those teams are gonna watch the SB the same way you or I will.

LA is in a bad place salary cap wise even with dumping Goff and don't have a 1sr round pick for another 3 years, haven't had a 1st round pick in 5 and have very little developmental talent because of their lack of picks.

We have to assume the only thing standing in their way of a SB is Goff. This trade was more about maneuvering under the cap in a very down year to free up desperately needed space than massively upgrading the team. If they kept Goff, they would have their least talented team in 5 years.

Well the rams situation right now is for 2021 draft they have rounds 2, 5, 6, 7, plus any compensatory draft picks and something like 6 players absorbing 109 million and a dead cap for Stafford of something like 24+ million (if I'm reading the figures right). the 2021 NFL cap is something around 180 Million. As for ShanaLynch's situation -- they are about 30 million under the cap and having 10 draft picks this next season. I'll take the 49ers situation vs the Rams - and just one final point, 49ers did beat the rams twice this year with a very injured team. (anybody please correct if I'm wrong on any of the numbers).

I feel bad for those poor podcasters who were convinced we were serious on Stafford. Heck, I even shared a few of their tweets
I f**king hate this team sometimes. These cheap b*****ds couldn't offer 2 1sts and Jimmy for Stafford?? This literally also means they will in no way ever pay for Watson who will get an even bigger haul if traded.

f**k this FO and Shanahan. f**k jimmy garbage. Holy s**t! Literally have the worst QB in the division by a wide margin.

But hey keep working on that defense! That's what the tradition of the San Francisco 49ers has always been that vaunted defense!! We need more Dline men and Corners! That'll win us a Superbowl against Mahomes!!
JFC.

Agree, and I'm reading some preliminary analysis on the Goff/Stafford trade, the Rams are *still* about 30+ million *over the cap* in 2021, even after the trade.

They'll extend and/or restructure Stafford to bring that way down. But they still need to make other strategic moves to field a team.
What is it going to take to call up Saleh and trade up with the Jets? Bosa and two firsts?
