This man tells no lies. Kayaa is like Happy Gilmore killing it at the driving range in the beginning of the movie but dude can't putt. If there's no pressure, if he has an absolutely clean pocket he can thread the needle but get a pass rusher anywhere in his immediate vicinity and dude goes into the tank.

Nathan Peterman --- the antithesis --- of Kayaa. Peterman's ability to stay in the pocket with his eyes downfield when he knows he's about to get creamed is very impressive. That kid is fearless.

Fearless you say? That checks off box #2.

Kyle Shanahan's Check Box for QB's: http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/kyle-shanahans-focus-soon-shifts-quarterback-evaluations
1. Pure thrower (natural throwing motion; born to throw; effortless; to where he doesn't have to think about it ever)
2. Fearless (against the rush; in the pocket; no hesitation; lets it rip)
3. Smart enough (handle the whole offense-WCO; handle it all under pressure)
4. Keeps his eyes downfield
5. Tough and hangs in the pocket
6. How he carries himself (leadership; likable)
7. Passion and determination
8. Can get rid of the ball fast (quick)
9. Quick processer (can go fast in the pocket; can think fast and react)
10. Natural feel of the game (automatic; feel and react)

I'm on the Peterman bandwagon if Shanahan doesn't think Trubisky is worthy at 2. I'd be really happy with Peterman as a 3rd rounder.

Yup I do like Mitch a lot and wouldn't hate the pick if that's what our staff wants...but I have a feeling they will be going after a vet this off season and could possibly draft Peterman to groom (and possibly play this yr at some point)....THEN either go after Kirk if he doesn't sign a long term deal in 2018 OR take some of those picks and go all in on a QB next draft (say someone like Rosen who's get's compared to Matt Ryan a lot).

I'm cool either way

Yeah, would not be pissed. But I'm sure we'd need to add an extra year of development to learn a WCO, footwork, timing, etc. Mold that clay. No rush.

Cupp going in the 2nd.

This is what his coach said about him...

"Pitt HC Pat Narduzzi compares QB Nathan Peterman to Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins as a prospect, according to NFL Network's Mike Mayock.

Narduzzi's opinion on the matter holds weight, as he was on the staff that coached Cousins at Michigan State. A Tennessee transfer, Peterman migrated to Pennsylvania and was a two-year starter for Narduzzi. Peterman threw for 2,855 yards and a 27/7 TD/INT ratio for the Panthers in 2016. Like Cousins, he'll be available on Day 3."

and if you look at their college stats it's near identical

If I had to pick a quarterback winner today, Pitt's Nathan Peterman would be it. Ball zips out. Jimmy Garoppolo lite.

QB Nate Peterman of Pitt is drawing deserved, increased buzz @seniorbowl - Long process, expect his momentum to continue as Draft approaches

Mitch Fairchild @HardCountScout

A small thing but #Pitt QB Nate Peterman seems to have command in the huddle. You can hear his voice throughout the stadium. @seniorbowl

Arthur Arkush @ArthurArkush

Seems like a marginally better day for #seniorbowl South QBs, namely Tiffin's Pipkin, but Nate Peterman best one here-& not sure it's close.

Draft Analyst @DraftAnalyst1

Nate Peterman/QB/Pitt showing good accuracy on short/intermediate throws and to the sideline. Best QB on the field so far today. #SeniorBowl

Daniel Jeremiah compares him to Derrick Carr without the huge arm (even though he avg 9.3 y/a). I think at the very least he's worth drafting in the 3rd and developing, good fit for Kyle IMO.

Peterman reminds me sooo much of Derek Carr

Is there a possiblity we can trade our #1 pick for JimmyG and then take Peterman in the 4th?

why trade for JG when peterman will be him out in camp

give Nate a weapon or some help on Defense with that #2 overall

At first this hire scared me but now I like it almost as much as the Shannan hire.

No way in hell am I trading the 2nd overall pick for Jimmy G...I like him but no way. 63 career completions for the 2nd overall pick plus you have to sign him. Offer 2 second rd picks and if they want more good luck. I'd roll on Peterman in the 3rd plently of teams with older qbs will jump at him.

Make sure to let the 49ers know that. I am sure they will take it into consideration...

All these little snippets are like promos trying to help rebuild the image of the front office to the 49er fanbase. Corny, but I think it's necessary.........and works!
