I seen the report about Berry not playing if he's tagged, but not sure if it's true about Cousins. After reading that article about him praising Lynch/Shanny, it sounds like he's okay with being tagged.

I saw this for Berry... not sure where you are seeing this for Cousins. Just that he's apparently willing to bet on himself because he wants a lot of guaranteed money.

Tiller is a RFA, so assuming he gets tendered, he should be back to at least compete for a roster spot.

Good list. I agree the guys you highlighted are good fits. We just want to make sure we don't get too sentimental with some of these guys. On a 2-14 roster, most of these dudes should be allowed to walk. Need a complete revamp.

For sure...Shanahan may like Kerley but he plans on using more FB and TE sets so he not needed as much. May like Harris but he fumbles too much. I forgot to add Tiller but he may not be a good fit for zone. Most of those guys are depth and ST though or role players.

It was the same segment on NFLN. Now be cautious...this is nothing more than agent leverage informing Ian so as to put pressure on their clubs via media to pay up and offer big long term contracts (with the threat of not playing; only leverage their clients have). No coincidence in the Cousins article below either.

Just to clarify, the franchise tagging period is February 15 to March 1, and the free agency period begins March 9, correct? So if Cousins isn't tagged before March 1, that's a sign, and if he becomes a free agent on March 9, that's an even bigger sign, right?

Rapaport is full of s**t. He isn't as bad as La Canfora but he is getting there

Name the last player to get franchise tagged then sit out

So here's a thought. If the idea of hiring Lynch is really forming into a President of Football Operations role, and with original rumors of pursuing Dominik...why not still hire Paton as GM? Or Dominik? Or McDonough...he certainly seems like he'd be down for that (reporting to Lynch/working with Kyle).

Many may not want to work under two guys who will have more power--Shanahan w/53 authority and Lynch overall authority. That would leave the GM in a weak position and these guys probably see themselves as ready for full GM power. But I still see them picking another person up for the FO...just have no idea what the title will be. Or should I say...I hope they do?

I'd love to have him back, one of the few bright spots from last year. Good value as a solid slot WR and return man. We'll see how the new coaching staff and FO evaluates his fit going forward.

Kerley and maybe Hodges are the only two UFAs I'm interested in bringing back. Everyone else should walk.

I think they will keep most of the FAs who have low salaries because it will take a year or two to replace them all. Rodgers, Ellington, Kerley, Streater, Smith, and perhaps Smelter and Burbage would make a competitive group as backups. They just have to find a true top receiver to be the dominant go to guy. Who knows...they may drop back in the draft and take Williams or Davis.

I'm not up to date on the exact timelines but that looks right IIRC. Guys like AB81RULES would be able to answer that specifically for you...others too I'm sure.

Not that I wouldn't love to add talent, but I'd like to see both of those guys stay where they are and continue to progress with their current teams.

I think it would be best that the 49ers build from within at the QB position and stick with some of the young talent they have at FS and SS.

First year HC and first year GM...let them build through the draft to start off and see where we are by OTAs. Maybe a couple of FAs here or there but nothing to move the needle. If this is gonna be a rebuild let it be a rebuild.

I think he worded it awkwardly. He means they will not play ON a franchise tag next season, not IF they're franchise tagged. That means they're seriously planning on getting a long-term contract somewhere.

Totally...he's just being fed. No doubt this is just agent angle crap.

I get what you're saying, but at the same time we have so much cap space we don't even know what to do with. You may as well sign at least one key FA, whether it be Alshon Jeffrey, Eric Berry or Kirk Cousins. Obviously the players you draft and develop aren't going to suck up that much cap space for awhile.
