I think the team is pretty confident in their UDFA scouting ability. This draft is super deep. We will have a crack at numerous draft-worthy players that I would say have prospect values as high as the 4th round but fell. Of course, there will be gems in there that are worth even more than that.

$7M off the books. Nice.

Whats the cap space like now??

We had $13 and cleared an additional $18 by my rough count. That should give room to restructure Williams as well as setting room for Kittle and others in the future. Nice work.

im just afraid that a lot of those UDFAs know that they have little to no shot at making the 53 on a Superbowl Team Roster.

Sweet!

Dont trade Thomas or Pettis. That would be dumb to me. Still young players that could improve. Both have flashed at times. Everyone isnt good right out the gate some players take longer. Let them at least finish their rookie contracts is my opinion.

Thomas has literally done nothing.

Certain positions probably have better odds than others. If I'm a RB I'd be chomping at the bit to play in this offense. There's room for IOL and DBs too. This is a team that has UDFAs starting at multiple positions.

I doubt it at this point...those two would be a terrible return for their draft pick. Both could still redeem themselves ala AA, but maybe not.

I'm not holding my breath on any of those two turning their careers around.

3rd year used to be the breakout year for WR. Pettis has the talent, just needs to bring some toughness consistently. He has flashed it.

This.

And very proactive. Spent two early picks on WRs in back to back years and another DT in top 15. Lot of GMs wouldn't - bc it'd mean they made mistakes with Pettis and Thomas.

He don't care.

Moved up 20 spots I believe. 210 to 190. I just can't believe we traded him with his contract.

While true, there are a couple wrinkles that still benefit the 49ers with UDFAs:

1. There are specific positions that are looking for better depth, such as G/C, CB/S, LB. Guys in those positions may still choose the 49ers

2. More importantly, the reputation of the 49ers coaching staff is extremely high. Some guys may see value in spending an offseason with the 49ers because if they are able to show teams something in preseason they can more likely get picked up for the 53 on another team.

I mean, there's a reason we didn't worry too much about not having a ton of picks. But if we find the right guys in UDFA, we could really boost our depth in areas like S, CB, DE, LB, IOL, and TE. All positions we could still target with our last two picks.
