One less year of wear and tear. Williams will only be 32 during the season. Still has another 5 seasons (give or take) before he gets to Joe's age.

I was surprised by that too but now it makes sense. I'm sure Staley must have let them know he was retiring because they had these talks about Williams going on for awhile. They must have felt confident that they could get it done so they trade back one spot and pick up a 4th rounder. They grab Kinlaw who is at least the 2nd best tackle and hopefully a good replacement for Buckner. Then they use that 4th rounder to trade up and get one of the best WRs in the draft.

The draft is like a chess match so you wonder how far ahead they were thinking. Given what we had before the Buckner trade and what we have now, I would say this is a great job by Lynch. It's easy to nail the draft when you are drafting 2nd every round or when you have a ton of picks like MIami. When you don't have a lot of ammo is when these GMs earn their money.

Breida just traded to Miami for their 5th round pick. We took offensive tackle fro West Virginia.

If he pulls that off then he's GM of the year again. Breida was kind of the odd man out and Pettis probably isn't going to be in the plans next year unless he shows up with a new attitude. Not sure how they could afford Howard since Pettis isn't making that much.

Lynch is having a monster draft right now. Hell, this whole offseason he's been on his A game, even if some can't see it.

Not gonna happen, but if we traded a 6th and Pettis for OJ Howard, Lynch will be GM of the year.
