FA was underwhelming.

But this has been fire!

It was but I didn't think we were going to be very active in FA.

Lol must eat you up, and others, just how good he is at his job

What are you talking about? I'm rooting hard for Lynch, even though I am not a fan of his. If he fails, then the whole org and fanbase does as well.

On the flip side he is healthy, one less year of wear and tear. Won't take long to knock the rust off going up against our DL in practice everyday.

Him vs Bosa would be a match up I would pay to see.
Well, those that wanted more OL help., there you go.

Unhhh...i don't suppose we will be asking him to slide inside at RG, however.

What do you mean what am I talking about? Can you elaborate why you are not a fan of the best GM in the biz?

Solid job, but let's keep it in perspective.

We needed to draft Kinlaw because Lynch busted on the Solomon Thomas selection and we couldn't afford Buckner. If Solomon Thomas panned out, we could have used that first round pick on Wirfs, potentially not needing Trent Williams. And we needed Aiyuk because Pettis production took a massive dump.

Additionally, we went all in on trading away draft picks in a class that is going to be known for having the best depth in years. This is seriously mortgaging our future when we will have needs at CB, SS, RG, EDGE, and potentially RB in 2021 due to multiple players on the last year of their contract. And we are doing it at a time where the 2020 NFL season is in jeopardy due to COVID-19.

When you can get a starting WR, DT, and LT by utilizing the draft and trades vs. free agent signings, that's a big f'in win. But these needs are self-inflicted because of poor investments in the early rounds. But good for Lynch for being decisive and bullish on these moves to correct the mistakes.
Good news, bad news.

Williams deal is a steal but Staley is retiring that plugs that hole but leaves interior line still as a concern.

That bold is a huge key. Not a lot of GMs can swallow their pride and admit mistakes right away. I'll take a guy that will make mistakes but is willing to acknowledge it and fix it. But you're right a lot of these moves are because of past mistakes. But that happens to every team in the NFL.

While that would be awesome, interior O-line is the most glaring need and we have essentially no remaining draft capital. I guess we have some money with Staley retiring.

Well , if you mean by signing a bunch of UDFAs, no, and I agree with you. But i bet anything he takes a look at a ton of IOLs and CBs. And by definition, that to me means he will be VERY active. He sure was last yr and yr before. But with UDFAs, you virtually have to see lots of them to find a potential starter or upgrade to find one that actually will help the team.

Certainly your post implied that there is very little room on this squad for any position. We needed 4 players, and we now have filled three with quality. Cover corner is the only thing remaining. It would be nice to find some real CB talent but raw and coach them up...good luck on that from UDFAs.

If somebody wanted to argue we are now a better team than that which went to the SB....i wouldn't argue. Frankly i thot signing Williams was a non starter. Well , it started.
