LOL. Sorry, Staley. This FO doesn't exactly have that want-to-win-now type of mindset right now.

Thanks for everything!

What does that mean nc?

I'm only speculating but the Matt Maiocco report of Joe Staley only being 50/50 on coming back and after the team traded Buckner, did nothing in free agency, and then drafted another DL, he's probably thinking the same thing we are --- we didn't get better. He just wants to win a Championship.

IF the rumor is true, it means Staley is retiring.

They have all their picks in both drafts still

Not if they keep trading them all away

Did I miss something?

They haven't traded any of them away though

Because taking an OT to back him up would've shown they are committed to 2020?

Joes money for 2020 is now guaranteed so I'd very disappointed in him if he walked away now.

Wirfs would be starting at RG...if Staley retired, RT with McGlinchey moving to LT and the team would save $10M in cap space.

Yes, this is getting a little odd. No trades for future picks have been made that I know of, and please correct me if I am wrong. But meantime, if you want to speculate about possibilities such as trading picks for players, that is fine but please make it clear that it is just speculation.

Ah ok. Going to have to respectfully disagree that this FO is not in win now mode. We might just have different offseason expectations. This is team is still loaded and if a season happens will still be a favorite to win it all .

We are still one of the favorite team to win the Super Bowl. That is all Staley can ask for, as no team can guarantee a Super Bowl win in the future. If Jimmy G takes a big step forward, this team might be better even with Bucker and E Sanders. In all likelihood Jimmy G will be better in this coming season, the question is how much better.

IF the rumor is false, it means Staley is not retiring.

This assumes the FO sees Glinch as the future at LT. They may see him as the long term right tackle, we don't know for sure how they view him.

And if they didn't see Wirfs as a LT, then it made a lot of sense to pass on him.

To clarify, I'm just basing that off of zero activity in free agency or trades. Not the draft. Draft is fine. How he could be perceiving their sense of urgency (lack thereof) here. I think he'll be back though.

If you were him, would you be saying, "Oh hell yeah, we're going for it!"

That's fair. I know LT and RT is pretty moot these days (because of where ER's line up) but I too prefer MM at RT because of his PP issues.

I think Joe is even more stoked right now than he was at start of last season. And he WANTS that ring.

Just a guess , but is it possible MM was carrying water for kyle...for drafting purposes and subterfuge?

rewatch the SB 4th Q. Joe was a turnstile, we need to address this asap
I wonder how all this uncertainty about the upcoming season will affect Staley's decision. On the one hand, it could give him more time for his body to recover from last season. One the other, he will be a year older if the 2020 season isn't played and the aging process doesn't take a year off.
