LOL. You think Baalke was the leaker over Jed and Paraag? Yes...sure he did his own smear campaign immediately after he was fired.

For all leaks, they've all benefited one person...Jed York.

It it wasn't Baalke, for whoever did the leaking, John Lynch put them in their place.

Hey guys, there are so many articles saying that "John Lynch wanted to test to see if the 49ers could keep a secret and nothing leaked, so they passed the test",

I read what happened the EXACT opposite! The fact that they were able to keep it a secret means that it was not anyone else that was doing the leaking. There was no rat in the organization letting things out. IT WAS JED AND PARAAG, because when they agreed not to leak, there were no leaks.

Doesn't this mean they failed the secrecy test, because now John knows that his own boss and close peer are the ones who were the source of all these leaks, the same leaks Jed always denied making and scapegoated on others in the organization all these years?

That makes sense, but we also do not have all of the information here. They could have let a few other high ranking members of the FO know about Lynch's interview and let them know that leaks would be dealt with harshly, possibly under penalty of losing their job.

I don't have a ton of confidence of Jed or Paraag(very little actually), but I do accept the fact that Jed, Paraag, and Baalke weren't the ONLY people who knew what was going on the past few years and certainly weren't the only people in the organization who could have leaked things to the media.

Just one man's opinion.

Lastly, I'll continue to say as I've said in other places and what other posters have attributed; when an organization fails, it's not just one person who causes that failure. Yes, Jed and Paraag are part of that failure, but Baalke and everyone else within the organization takes a share of that failure commensurate to their role. And debating whose share should be at what significance is always a welcomed debate.

In any event, skepticism is always welcome...

Agreed...the issue is that Paraag has been here 16 years and Jed the CEO, what 10? The problems with any York+Paraag have existed far longer than Baalke's tenure here and they are still here making the decisions today.

Fans have every right to question money ball tactics and the decision making of both these guys. Could it have been all Baalke? To your own point...collective fail. They may have promoted Baalke because he subscribed to that money ball mindset. Who knows?

Like you said though, we also have a right to connect the dots (like above on the leaks) and be skeptical until proven otherwise.

But the bottom line is Jed and Paraag are THE decision makers. And they've only seen a few years of success during their entire tenure...and there's a LOT to be skeptical about to date.

Sounds like they would've failed either way in your book...

The test results indicate that Jed and Paraag have 100% control over whether something gets leaked or not, and we already know things got leaked regularly in the past, especially things that painted the HC in a bad light. What positive or promising conclusions can you draw from that?

Excellent point! Perhaps it does show the leaks have been targeted and not persistent. In other words, if one of those guys just can't help themselves from talking and showing off their knowledge and power, versus wanting to shape the message...it's a different form of leak. If he starts running into trouble, not showing improvement over the next two years, he can be assured there will be leaks from/about the organization's weaknesses as perceived by Jed York.

No. There haven't been any leaks since Baalke was fired. People have reported rumors, but that's not a leak. A leak is like what happened to Chip Kelly last season where it was reported he was absolutely fired (on Fox) before he actually knew about it.

But that was a Jed decision. Baalke was surely not in on it, because he was also on the chopping block.
As to leaks, here is Mike Silver confirming straight up that the 49ers leak info to he and his colleagues...it's also standard practice.

There was no surprise 2 seconds after Baalke was fired, there were about 3 reports all claiming he was the devil and Jed was innocent across the board...of Adam Gase reports from 2 years ago. Had any of these media guys been "fed" that info back then, they would have reported that and it would have been big news (owner and GM not on the same page).

They weren't fed that info until recently. Timely. And whether it's the truth or not or just a tactic to be more attractive to start a HC/GM search, it's STILL A LEAK.

Mike Silver confirming the 49ers leak to him.
