Agreed. Like him a lot...but yeah, he'll learn to give interviews and say a lot without saying anything at all. But it sure is refreshing now!
Ok, we are joking about this but analytics ARE great...if used properly. Talent evaluation is for those guys who know football inside and out. Former players, coaches, but mainly guys who grew up with the game and have had extensive experience scouting talent. That is completely opposite of an analytics guy sitting down and handing the coaches a list and telling them, "here are your top picks for all 7 rounds....all done by analytics". That is extreme, but during peeg's time here, now closing in on 17 yrs(?), some of the picks have been somewhere between headscratchers and plain old stupidity. We all know of them, everyone has his favorite...er , worst case. But if you scout a pair of WRs, or OLBs, or whoever, and honestly can't tell who is best for us, then analytics would be nice to look at. But still, talking to prospective draftee's fellow players, coaches, the combine, personal interviews, chat with his teachers...the whole magilicutty...that is how you pick players. If the analytics can add something, hey great. But you sure as heck don't start from analytics and work in reverse. But over some of the last decade and a half, one wondered sometimes if that weren't what had gone on, once draft was over.

Whatever, analytics do have a place. It just isn't front and center. It is an adjunct to making a decision. Use it wisely and it may help. Overuse it and you get a hot mess. Makes one wonder why we are so talent shy...and have been for some time now.

Or perhaps forthright and honest. That's how to build trust and leadership.

Yeah he seems like a nice man that people will follow, also should be very helpful when it comes time to signing free agents.

Lynch, when asked what Paraag Marathe's role will be in the FO...

"I report to Jed York."

And Jed reports to Paraag.

As far as i can tell he did not give away who 49ers were drafting at #2. I think we are okay.

One reason we don't trust ownership is because of how secretive they are. I've never doubted that Jed wants to win more than anything. He just didn't know how. With these two hirings it confirms three things: he's learning, he doesn't give a f**k what people say about him, and he really wants to win.

People don't trust people who hide what they're thinking. Sure, some things can't be shared, but beyond that, I hope and expect you are wrong. John Lynch needs to be the leader of this team, and if he's to be successful, people will believe he's being forthright with them.

It's just pure torture. That's got to be worse than waterboarding.
