Great story here. I had no clue of the connection between John Lynch and Bill Walsh. My God, we're BLESSED!

No jury out on Taylor. He was a 7th round pick. The fact he made the roster a couple years and contributed is already a win.
Yes, he's been good and carved out a spot for himself on a deep team. He's a keeper.
He's done nothing for 2 years in a row now and this current roster is more competitive than it was in 2017, I bet he struggles to stick.
Is it though? If Taylor comes back healthy and plays up to the standard he set year one does he really miss out to Pettis, Goodwin, James?
We've only got 3 regular contributors at WR. Taylor has every chance if his health is right.
We're keeping sanders and Taylor's not unseating him as starter.
Who said he was? 53 man roster contains more WR than just "starters".
Taylor isn't going anywhere. If he is healthy he will make the final roster next year. At this point Goodwin, Pettis and James are the bubble guys. Earlier in the year I thought Bourne might be a bubble guy next season as well but he has really come on as a reliable 3rd down and Red Zone target and I suspect he will be pretty much of a lock to make the team again. Sanders is the x factor at the moment, how the rest of the positions fill out will depend on whether or not he re-signs with the team and on what kind of deal. I have to admit there have been moments this year where I have wondered if D.K. Metcalf might not have been a better pick than Deebo but I love the dog in that kid.
If Hurd comes back healthy and shows the kind of toughness that he did against Dallas in the preseason then you could be looking at a receiving corps full of hard scrabble, never give an inch players, Sanders, Samuel, Kittle, Hurd, Bourne, Taylor and Juice. Outside of Kittle the rest of them might not be considered elite but that is quite a bit of fight and toughness for other teams to compete against. And yes, I do include Taylor in with that assessment. Even though he has been sidelined for awhile he is a guy who also has the ability to get in their and mix it up. There was a play in his rookie season I think where he was blocking downfield on some DB and was just punishing him. The guy got so mad that he took a swing at him and we ended up getting another 15 yards added to the play. I like Taylor a lot and hope that he can put all of his injuries behind him next year and come on strong. If all of those guys are healthy just think of what a nightmare third downs would be for opposing teams to defend. Geez Louise, who would you try and take away without the possibility that at least three other guys could be open in some other part of the field.

Time to promote him up and make Peters our GM. Teams will start raiding our coaches and front office personnel soon coinciding with our winning and the way we build his roster. Other than hitting most of the draft picks the last couple of years and free agent signings, the roster is built for the long term. Great job by Lynch and Shanahan as this team has finally arrived in Year 3 under their watch.

I think one of the biggest jobs Lynch & Shanahan have done is build the culture and locker room, they work hard AND have fun, not many like that.
I can't see anyone actually wanting to leave, any who go will be business decisions and I think that's huge.
Agree. They were very careful who they paid money to. They extended players like Staley, but guys like Ward and Arik weren't. Just look how they got Kwon, that dude is a fireball and a leader. Sherman is a leader on the defense. They were very deliberate from a cultural point of view who they elevated with money and who they didnt. Masterful job.
this is how a true dynasty is built. Not just a few good years then self destruct a la Harbaugh baalke. These two guys work well together and built the culture so current players want to stay and future stars want to play here.
Very good post Jaci!

We need to figure something out. Mayhew interviewed for the Texan's GM spot last year, demand will only go up at this point.
