I meant to say that I don't think any reputable GM that was out there that we were interviewing this year would want to concede control. Paton, McDonough, Ballard, Gutekunst, etc. I don't know if these guys would want to concede control. If all you're doing is running the draft room, having input in FA, and scouting, this is pretty much aligned with a VP of Player Personnel role rather than a GM with full power with the roster.
There is a reason why GMs get pretty stubborn about controlling those things. They wanted that 53 man roster control and guys like Baalke never conceded that which I'm sure pissed off Harbaugh. They are the guys who want to set the roster and the vision, and then they go hire the head coach to execute their plan.
