John Lynch played a big role in the Broncos recruitment of PFM. He's so well-connected in this league. Long relationship with the Shanahans.

Not about who I wanted. It's about hiring someone with a legit resume, pedigree, and knowledge about the position. You know, what successful companies, teams, and franchises do. Yorks have tried this before with head coaches and it didn't work.
Didn't help Grigson he had the resume, pedigree, knowledge and failed horribly. Nothing is sure thing

That is terrible logic. That's like saying: "a guy jumps out of an airplane and dies because his parachute fails" So people shouldn't wear parachutes because it could fail.
Just because some GM's fail doesn't mean they shouldn't be as experienced as possible. If anything, it confirms how difficult the job can be even for candidates that have YEARS of scouting or coaching experience.
How many GMs have been successful starting with ZERO experience at the job?

Or Scott Pioli, he was about as sure of a thing as there is when it came to GM's and it turned out that while he may be a good talent evaluator, he was an a*****e to the nth degree that managed to piss off everyone within the Chiefs organization, front office, coaching staff, support staff, the dude just absolutely alienated people in every way imaginable. His personnel success was mixed at best as well.
I would have loved for the 49ers to get Ballard or Paton but I'm willing to give Lynch a chance, see how this wacky situation plays itself out.
