Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

This guy has made a lot of huge mistakes already. I'm also tired of hearing him talk about how he tried so hard to get Khalil Mack or some other big name.

Peters and Mayhew are potential in house replacements at GM. Jon Embree is the only qualified in house replacement at HC. Which is pathetic, but considering how well Kittle has developed he would deserve a look.

Brian Xanders and Jeff Ireland are both experienced outside options. I'd pair Xanders with Kubiak, they both have ties to Denver and Ireland with Carmichael Jr considering they've been working together in NO.

Yeah. My opinion of John is he's obviously trying, hitting and missing etc, but I think it's obvious every GM tries things and they don't happen. We don't need to know all that bs. He needs to shut up.

Considering a large chunk of people in this very thread hate him because he didn't trade for Mack, him saying what we offered was better than Chicago certainly seems relevant.

I will say that if I hear we are interested in top free agents (i.e. Clowney) or players on the trade block only to not land them I will be pissed. I don't want to hear quote from him saying that we tried.

The primary issue with Lynch is that he's more interested in promoting himself than running the team. Here he is after the 2017 draft pumping his chest about how he outsmarted the rest of the league to get Foster.

they should have hired Patton

Kubiak will be the OC for the broncos no way hes taking on a HC gig with his health.
