So you think Tomsula should have been retained?

Because otherwise its kind of a pointless comparison. Jed firing Tomsula was not the mistake. Hiring him was. People were pleasantly surprised that Jed would cut his losses with a coach who was obviously proving to be completely in over his head after a year.

Why would you ask that question? My feelings about Tomsula are irrelevant to my point.
The point is that Jed gave Kelly a contract and promised the fans that Kelly would be here a long time regardless of first tear performance.
We have no reason to believe he will not fire Lynch before his contract is up. Do you disagree?

As far as Lynch being over his head, not sure yet. Thomas looks like a wasted #3 draft pick. Williams a bust. No effort to get an edge rusher. On thrbother hand, Foster and Warner may be studs and he secured a FQB.
My opinion on him is irrelevant if Jed sours on him.
So now people want Lynch fired.

At least we didn't get our first win until November.

Back to the Baalke Days!

Simmer down. Your expectations are too high. We were 0-9 last year to start. Remember that

I don't get the Lynch criticism. No GM is perfect, and the Thomas pick is bad, but he's hit on a ton of moves and been more successful than we could have hoped for. The 49ers needle bottomed out just before his hiring and it's been pointing north ever since.

Some of you seem to think this team could do a quick turnaround. The team had perhaps the worst roster in the NFL two years ago. It was a complete rebuild. In a year and half the roster has been taken up to the middle of the pack in talent and has a lot of potential to grow.

This is the year the team battles and learns to win. After a season of addressing the remaining holes, next year is the year the team should rise to contention again. And it will be a multi-year window.

I really think the offseason hype and the winning streak messed up the perception of this team. I think we are good enough to fight for a playoff spot but that doesn't mean we will have some serious growing pains. Witherspoon had his bad game and I am sure Sherman ripped him a new one after that game. Like last year, we will be better once the season rolls on. We have such a tough schedule overall but its better for the long run even if we just missed the playoffs.

Different circumstances this time. New GM, new coach so more of a clean slate. Kelly/Baalke was a train wreck to begin with.

He could go 1-15 and still retain his job. He's going nowhere. 6 year contract.

True. It could totally blow up. I shouldn't count anything out regarding Jed.

Anyone want to bet that Lynch will be let go this year? I will take all bets, for any sum of money you want. Time for money to meet mouth.

Haha...0% chance.
It's year 2 and so far Lynch is making some good progress. IMO landing Jimmy G and Sherman is a HUGE leap. Obviously the team still needs to improve in some areas and it's going to take time....and their is no reason for me to complain because the Niners is much better than last year, so I'm happy with Lynch (and Kyle!) for now.

At least the team is in a better situation than McKenzie and the Raiders. Dude hired Gruden and it went downhill from there, especially losing Mack. Kinda feel bad about the Raider Nation. I even have a friend now considering to become a Niner fan. So to the Zone who are unhappy with the Niners' status and especially Lynch's decisions on personnel: Would you consider becoming a fan of some other team?

the raider fanbase had playoff expectations and expected Gruden to take them over the hump, so of course they are upset when they trade away an elite pass rusher. Now they are looking at rebuilding again.

Over here in this fanbase, we have low expectations and are expecting 7-8 wins now because the roster talent is bare, and didn't do enough in the offseason. Different expectations. Initially, high expectations since people thought the QB could mask some of the deficiencies on this team, but it is clearly not the case after these two games.
just wish we would of traded for Mack and Gordon.. maybe add Bell in the mix and i think we would be a contender..

Yeah let's trade for Aaron Rodgers, Von Miller and Jalen Ramsey while we're at it.

thats not realistic..
Lynch actually called for Mack.. id give up 2 firsts for him.. totally worth it..
We inquired about Gordon, whats a 5th rounder worth... high reward low risk, we didnt have a 5th throw in 7th and then 5th for following year..

so if we were more aggressive we would of had Gordon and Mack.. and we would be a much better team.. Breida is playing lights out for now..

Is anyone saying he will be fired at the end of this year? I don't see that happening.
