I'm curious and thought I'd add this as a stand alone poll/topic as it seems to crop up in a lot of discussions as a side note but no one has polled it yet.
Whichever pairing/team we get, how long are you prepared to give them to achieve a winning season? Personally I think we need a complete overhaul from the ground up and I'm prepared to give a young GM/HC pairing 5 years to lay the foundations and groundwork for long term success.

I think it'll be a period of 3 years at least, if we find a franchise quarterback we can reach 8-8,9-7 in that 3-year window

Nolan's plan called for 7 years, too bad he didn't get to finish his own plan but Harbaugh certainly benefited from the foundation laid by Nolan.

I agree, probably 3 years to get to 9-7 or better.

If we get tha right people and QB here I think we can be 8-8 within 2 seasons and probably 10-6 in 3 seasons...I see our division going back down hill sea-chicken can't get their drafts together...Cardinals only have a year or 2 left with Palmer then they go down hill...Rams are tha only team I think may challenge because they have alot young and high round draft picks but need tha right HC to bring them all together..

I have high hopes on the new GM/HC pairing and that is why I am looking at it with a pretty positive outlook.
The kind of timeline I have in mind is as follows:
Year 1 - 6 wins
Year 2 - 9 wins
Year 3 - Playoff

Three years to go 9-7 sounds about right. Maybe four if they come really close in the third year.

Three. Year one I expect the foundation to be laid. Year two, I expect noticeable improvement because unless we're lucky with some home run acquisitions in the Draft/FA, we still likely won't be a winner or playoff team. Year three is the year we should have the personnel we need to be a winner.

3 years.
Wouldn't be surprised if its another 2-14 season next year. Hopefully Jed isn't a dumbass and panics

I see majority chose 3 seasons but knowing this place we will panic every time we lose and blame it all on York.

I would give 3 years, I think that is quite reasonable for a new front office/coaching staff to get things headed the right way and actually pretty likely.
That being said with our current roster/ cap situation and how our division seems to be on the way down, I could see the right GM/Coach combo with a smart draft or two and an aggressive but intelligent approach to free agency scraping out a .500 season in year two, maybe even a long shot on next year if we see a total internal collapse of the Seahawks...which to be honest although highly unlikely the signs of infighting are there.

If I see steady improvement my patience will be endless. But if after 4 years we get a winning season and then go 8-8 or worse the next year it will have run out.
With our cap situation we could potentially be 8-8 next year but signing every fa we can is not an answer for long term success.
