I think how is the question, what free agent will sign here and how many of our young players get extensions. How many players on the team deserve $10 million signing bonus? 10? If we signed 10 promising players to extensions with $10 million guaranteed first year the niners could spend the $100 million cap.

IIRC I thought they had to spend the money to get to the "salary cap floor". I am not advocating they spend like the Eagles a few years back or the Redskins during Snyder's earlier years, but they need to bring in some impact players and spend because relying solely on the draft (which they have faiiled at) to improve the roster will result in another season like the current for next year.

NO, not if Trent Baalke is the GM. If they bring in a new GM, Yes.

Yup at this point you need to regain the front office with young up and comers and seasoned NFL personnel people with connections to get this thing on the right track

The first question is; who is willing to come here?
No top tier players are going to want to come here unless we offer 25% over market value. Nate Clements anyone?
The answer is to get the best journeymen players possible - think Zane Beadles-type players. Few of that quality will still be here when the team is winning. That is just what happens when you are a bottom-dweller.
The really good players will have to come via the draft.

Isn't there a new rule coming in where you have to spend most of your salary cap each year?
