QB or WR-which is a bigger priority for the 49ers?

WRs are only as good as the QBs... so we can sign ODELL, BROWN, MEGATRON, DEZ.. and if we have a mediocre for a QB, it'll just be a waste.

If you tear the question down to its core, an average QB and stud wide outs can make you competitive. However, a stud QB and average wideouts can make you contenders.

Yes, it may take a minute to find out if a guy we pick can be or is that FQB, but we don't need another "average" QB there are enough of those guys on our roster.

17 years later we need an actual replacement for Steve Young. Once we know we have that then we concentrate on anything else.

We're counting on Chip Kelly to know one when he sees one. He hasn't had that guy during his time in the NFL yet, so the jury is still out on if he can identify one.

I'm assuming as an "offensive genius" that Kelly will be given the benefit of the doubt to advise Baalke to take one when he sees one available.

QB for sure.
Thing is, one of tour 3 "Class of 2011" will be the cagey old vet that we have to run with until the rookie from next year's draft is ready to roll.
That's basically, Gabbert or Ponder on a 2 year note, while unknown, unproven and untested Rook shows he can be better than Gabbert or Ponder in year 2.

Dak is looking good but im glad we drafted a corner on the IR list....

Look at Manning and Brady they made do with whatever was available. Manning had better options but when they faltered or aged someone replaced them without missing a beat.

With Chip Kelly's system we are seeing open targets down the field. The problem is the QB isn't able to get it to them consistently...

Wasn't a particularly strong QB class. Dak has been a little bit of a surprise other than that what QB should he have taken in the first 3 rounds.

Its still early but the fact we have no developmental prospect is concerning.

Our starter is a developmental project, isn't that obvious?

I do think he did a good job in trading for Bradford, given the way he looked last night, a 2nd round pick and the rotting corpse of Nick Foles, which the Eagles then turned into a 1st round pick was well worth it.

The way I look at it is this:


A great WR can be shutdown by a great CB. Sometimes even by a not so great CB just playing very physical.


Shutting down a great QB means every guy on the defense has to do their job well or you are going to get beat.

If there are two top tier QBs like this past draft then move up for one...we have zero at QB next year (literally we don't have any QB signed past this season).

We are young at RB I don't see the point especially early...IMO the WR class is subpar this yr and I'd rather go look in FA for one.

I want someone that doesn't have any limitations to run chip's offense...Bradford is a accurate QB but offers nothing to the read option. Plus like you said he's made of glass LOL I thought he was gonna be out last night

QB and it isn't even close....in Chips system especially the WR's can be lunch pail guys that do one or two things well. He uses them to suit the plays that they can run and plugs in another guy if they cant on a given play. What we need, what we must have that we clearly don't is a guy who can read a defense and deliver an accurate ball at a high rate of repetition. He doesn't have to have elite arm strength or super star measurable. Just be accurate at under 30 yards, on time with the ball and have enough nerve and athleticism to take what a D gives him. An Elite rookie prospect could run this offense...or mildly athletic veteran with good pocket skills could too. We have neither.
