Not so great. Swifter owned us for a bit.
They had one of our former tight ends as well as some pieces from our defense.

Interested in what u dig up. Always fun to take a trip back I time

it was capers who coached them then folks!

seifert was only hired by them (coaxed more like it, he was enjoying his fishing retirement) in 1999

only reason seifert owned in the Niners in his panthers tenure (99-2001) was cos we sucked those years, except '01

Edit: forgot, Seifert coached the panthers to an ignominious 1-15 record in 2001

Has anyone else seen or read what this guy Kevin Jones from KNBR writes about the team? He's only been on the scene a couple months. Some of it kind of interesting but lame at the same time. He's got this whole story dedicated to the fact the Niners were starting their practice today listening to a song "North Carolina" by Petey Pablo and saying the team is trying to send a subtle message to the Panthers about how they're not scared to play such a formidable opponent. IDK what I've seen him write so far comes off kinda douchey and straight up stupid. Yeah, it's possible the players just like the song and thought something more like "hey we're playing the panthers so this is a cool song to get hyped out" type thing. Probably nothing really deep or profound like he was trying to spin it.

I just read that article, it could be accurate. Chip will look for any angle to find a win. It's science. I was more impressed with the comments, every person was talking about how we are gonna pull off the upset.

Go 9ers!!!

Here's another article by Jones. Yep this confirms he's a journalistically irresponsible douchebag. No clown, they're actually headed in the same direction. One is just farther along than the other and he was #7 pick. Big difference between that and someone picked 28th. This guy is the new d**khead reporter/columnist now surpassing KKC (Kawakami/Killion/Cohn).

I just read that article. Might as well call Garnett a bust lol

I think he's new to covering the team. Tiller played well above average last season but he said NO ONE expected him to win a starting job this season. I thought it was tillers job to lose this whole time

Waters followed the $$$, but he was sorely missed

This is a what if but had we kept Watters maybe we would have won another SB and S.Young might have played a little longer.

Yeah, I read it and couldn't agree more. Once again the comments were the best part, a guy just went off on him making stuff up and not being a good journalist. Said he was using kawakami's template to spin his stories.

Definitely stronger chance we repeat in '95:

- the defense was #1 ranked
- team probably finishes better than Dallas and gets #1 seed
- #1 seed means probably never face GB and host & beat DAL at the stick in the NFCCG
- Niners handle the steelers in SB30

no RB successor to Watters was what handicapped the Niners runs in '95 & '96 til they signed Hearst in '97, but by then the defense was getting old, and also Rice was gone for the year

The young injury could've been prevented if Hearst hadn't busted his ankle in ATL the playoffs prior to '99

I'm hoping the defense can shut them out too

Me too, and then shut out every opponent and win the super bowl.

As long as every team we face trades for keenum the week we play them, we have a shot.

So, you're saying there's a chance!!

Go 9ers!!
This is going to be a tough matchup, it will be a good test to see how we match up against an elite team, I think Chip will have them ready for the challenge.

being this early in the season probably helps us too ..im hoping
Interesting.

You mentioned energy on Monday, but I asked the players last year and they admitted to not having the same energy on the road and the numbers reflected that. As a coach, how do you coach up your defense to bring the energy in road games, particularly on a long trip like this? - See more at: http://www.49erswebzone.com/news/97915-transcript-oneil-talks-rams-panthers-eric-reid-more/#sthash.gVkTmEs4.dpuf
