Some people seem to be overly excited about Cajuste. If he's so great why wasn't he drafted. If he starts making some plays in camp, like DeAndrew White did last year, then I might begin to get excited. Until then, not really.

It's nice that a new coaching staff can evaluate this group of receivers with a clean slate (hopefully). It would be great if the best players get to play regardless of how much the are getting paid, what round they were drafted or if they were drafted by us at all.

This is how I feel about Smelter, not the draft part but just the hype that he has within the fan base.

I hear you two but nothing wrong with getting excited about a players potential and upside especially in a system that may actually use them.

But yeah, we'll see soon.

Chip Kelly on WR group complimenting each was what he looks for? He just wants them "to be good."

Difference is that Smelter was drafted low (4th) due to injury, Cajuste was not drafted due to talent level. The only WR who has shown himself to be an NFL talent is T Smith, and that was with Baltimore. Wide open vistas for these guys!

Smelter was a 4.4 guy, while Cajuste is 4.6.

The competition at receiver is easily the most wide open the 49ers will have this summer. Who will start opposite Torrey Smith at receiver? And who will be the third and fourth options? It's an extremely inexperienced group. Of the 12 receivers on San Francisco's 90-man roster, only four have more than two NFL receptions.

It won't be so fun when we are signing guys off the streets in October.
If I had more faith in this FO I'd be right with you as far as how we are looking at things.

I am somewhat excited-respect to Boldin, but we are young and need new blood to come out of the shadow and see if they can grow. Still early, but looking forward to Rogers and Smelter. I'd probably say goodbye Simpson and Patton.

I guess I don't know how to view this... We had a top ten draft pick in WR on this team throughout the Harbaugh era and I still was never impressed with our pass game. In fact I always thought that Crabs had some great RAC potential but between Smith and Kap was never put in a good situation to perform. Now our Run game was great. Our D was great. We won games and went to a super bowl so hard to complain.

With that said, it seems we blame the WR talent before looking at what drives production at the WR position. Got to say Brady would have salivated over some of the WRs we have had come through here over the past years. The fact is we had a QB in Smith (who I am a fan of) that really didn't push the ball down the field, and then Kap (Who I agreed should have taken over for Smith) whose legs and hard throwing arm got him praises. Not WRs best friends....

Not saying we can't use more talent at the WR position, but find me a position we can't Just saying that maybe the main cause of our passing woes is not all on the "talent" of our WR and more on how they have been utilized and the QB strengths or for the matter weaknesses causing issues.
