Part of me wonders if it is too late to dump Trent & Chip. Install Gamble as interim GM and hire Shanahan. I know Scott "mutually parted" 6 weeks before the draft and I know OTAs dont start for another month. I know it would cost a ton of money to fire a brand new coaching staff but it can't be more than the $60M we are saving this year in cap space.
Just sacrastic wishful thinking.

I will wait until the year starts but at the end of last year we are the 7th worst. We ain't picking first so we aren't the worst. We do have some of the worst press and we can't keep our lips shut enough for me

Yea,
At this point i'd say we are, i'm not sure what the front office is thinking right now.
But if they tried to bring guys in, and none were interested, we're in deep trouble.
and currently the Raiders could be taking over with their signings.
They got 3 guys that this team could have used, a Guard, OLB, and a big CB.

Raiders have an owner with a bad hairdo and a dump to play in and zero trophies since the 70s. They still suck and their fans stinkOriginally posted by NinerDreamer11:Yea,

They hired a better coach IMO, but their front office and ownership is just as inept as ours. They lost a ton of talent today and got zero to replace it. The Niners just sat on the sidelines apparently looking at the lowest tier of free agents even with $60 million to spend. Ridiculous.
But seriously who are we supposed to sign? Bruce Irvin was not the answer - I would trust Baalke to have a good evaluation on a guy we've played 10 times. Boone - the fact that we let a 28 year old guy go with our line deficiencies raises more questions about Boone and his character than it does about Baalke's decision making.
We didn't spend huge dollars on DL. Ok ... This is the deepest draft in years for that position. No ILBs were impressive. No WRs were either.
You want to pay $35 million for a RB when we already have Hyde?
$12 million on Jenkins per year? We've seen him a ton too.
It's not like the 49ers got outbid on these players and we didn't have the guts to overpay to "get our guy".
On the OL - we get A Davis back. Kilgore is a good center with promise. Staley is still very good. Tiller showed promise last year at guard. We have a 2nd year swing tackle who showed signs last year. We might be one guard away here and I could care less that Baalke chose not to pay a FA over $10 million per to play LG.
Quick question, did the Niners do anything to improve the team yesterday? Were they even involved in any discussions on players at their greatest areas of need? I am not saying the Niners go out like the NY Giants did yesterday and blow $200 million in one day. But, do some f**king thing. They could afford to give out one or two overpriced contracts to get better, can't they? This team went 5-11 and has lost so much talent over the last two offseasons that it's getting ridiculous.
What news did we hear from the Niners camp yesterday? Besides keeping Ian Williams, we heard about them signing a training camp QB, kicking the tires on an OG almost as bad as Eric Pears and Jordan Devey, looking at a Special Teams demon in Mariani, and losing out on Sean Smith to the Raiders. Does that inspire any confidence in you as a fan? Sorry, but I want more than that from our team, especially when you have $60 million to spend.

Im with you. Frustrating. Fielding the same 5-11 team and banking on the draft where 31 other teams play a roll in selection is another year in the dumps. Damnit at least try to get better

There are one or two (at most) worse than us... I think Western Kentucky Hilltoppers might be one of them and the other is San Jose St. Spartans, then us
