Good ish bro Montana. Agree one hunnit. What I don't mind about Chip staying in 3 WRs in goal line is that it keeps Ds honest and they still got to prepare for the QB to dash, RB&a quick pass so they can't just stack the box on us even if they are banking on the RB getting the ball.

We've all seen over time that getting in a goal line formation and punching it in is predictable and seems to be on a down trend of success rates IMO though no stats to back that up.

Agreed and I may be wrong, but it does seem like our jumbo/GL packages struggled the past few seasons. Very frustrating. I was upset that Harris fumbled on Sunday but I still like the handoff out of a 3 WR set down there. Maybe not all of the time, but it was nice to see.

Agreed. I like Harris. Hope he knows this is probably his best&possibly final shot to continue his career. Hope he realizes this ,would be a great trio with Hyde and Mike.
I hope chip is sitting on some 12 pp plays...

w/ Vance, bell, celek and Miller holding down a hback role (D. Walker sf/tenn) it could be a nice change up to his 3 wide preference.

Yeah that would be cool to see.

Especially since we have no WRs to speak of. Those cats can't be as bad running routes.

Can't speak to that, really only paid attention to oline and RB's play

and that was fueled by simtra and sculpin

Did Chip Kelly somehow manage to run over every football reporter's dog or something? Every story I'm reading this week is like "Bad luck Chip fans... we've seen enough, 49ers are going 0-25 this year... somehow."

Apparently QB troubles are the be all and end all... if you're the 49ers. Despite Kelly having some proven success in previous years without a top QB... and despite 4 or 5 other teams with QB's that cost more than our entire depth chart under centre having forgettable to outright awful games, those guys seem to get a pass to "show improvement" next week.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but Kelly's offense with us has something that he's never really had before. A oline that's physically built for gap / man blocking scheme that can actually zone block as well. Usually ZBS lines are a little light and thus, IMO, struggle with power schemes. This difficiency usually shows up in the playoffs and against teams that are stout in the defensive front. I think we have an opportunity to employ both effectively at any given time and we have the personel to play in the 'I' formation, something I'd particularly like to see in the Red Zone. Just my 2 cents.

To add, and the TEs to seal that edge...McDonald and Bell were tasked a lot last game to seal that final defender on the edge. When successful, there was big success.

I blame Health Evans.

Mr. Evans is the most unbiased analyst on NFLN....

There are a lot of traditionalists that hate Chip. He doesn't use the power run game in their eyes. If you look at what coaches say though, they all think he is brilliant. Some people hate change.

Merged the threads "Chip's Coaching Concepts" with, "Chip Kelly 2.0", which was created to discuss the evolution of his scheme.

Here is the original Chip Kelly thread to discuss all things Chip:

I mentioned in the HOU gameday thread that I'd be surprised if Chip ever came out in an I formation. He has done that in the past.
Split Zone out of an offset I formation (2015)

I think this play proves that not every play Chip runs is predictable, he can change.

Yup. Two backs (FB is actually a TE) with the QB under center. The formation is not Chip like. Perhaps Bruce Miller can still have a role as a traditional FB on some plays.

Now, if he could drop another TE or 2 in on this formation and at least have it as an option for goaline and short yardage.....
