I don't see that, personally. Inside your own 20ish, your playbook is limited. Chip's is limited anyway, so huddling makes sense because the %'s say you're going 3 and out. Should give the defense a decent breather if that happens. I'm with you though. I'd love to see them mix up pace a bit

Do the percentages say your going 3 and out when backed inside the 20 because that's just the way it is or is that the way it is because coaches play more safe and don't attempt to attack as much? I think it is more about the lack of aggressiveness and field position game than it has to do with the actual possible result.

Hopefully someone will look that up. Interesting question. Chip is pretty aggressive anyway.

Chip's offense isn't complicated. Later tonight and going forward, people will be complaining about that. At its core, his offense is extremely generic. That being said, had Chip had a line last year, he'd still be in Philly. Had Chip had a line and a QB to keep defenses honest, he'd be a head coach with 3 playoff appearances. Chip the GM, didn't do Chip the coach any favors by not addressing the line. It's very much like Lombardi's Packers. They ran the same play over and over, but a defense couldn't stop it because they did it to perfection.

"Knowing" what play is coming, is what gets defenses into trouble. With a mobile QB, Chip's offense may line up the same way several times and run the same play. Then 2 quarters later line up the same way and play action or whatvever. Remember, it's all about mismatches. If the line can block well enough for the RB to gain 4 yards, that DE will start crashing. Then the QB will start keeping it. Then a LB moves up and a TE is open

What the hell was so creative about it? we had a very good run blocking offensive line so we just ran frank gore and imposed our will on most teams, we also had hunter who was a nice back and got about three good things from james. romans creativity came when we would do things like.. oh run away from the run game when it was working against the colts,, run a reverse on a wet field with a wet ball in a title game vs the giants,. run a toss to ginn at our own two yard line vs the rams, oh yes first and goal from the 7 in a super bowl and even when james got two yards. he opted to use frank as a decoy. etc etc. when he stuck to the basics we won. when he decided to become the nutty professor and think he was smarter than the game, with the express written consent from the enabler jh.. we looked foolish and lost
