We've moved Jim Tomsula out of the "should be safe" category since our last update. Owner Jed York could grow impatient after Tomsula's first season if the49ers collapse even harder down the stretch. They are, by some measures, the worst team in football. At a minimum, this team seems likely to look for an experienced offensive coordinator. It's also possible York says goodbye to general manager Trent Baalke instead of Tomsula.

I mich rather lose tomsula than baalke.

I'm not going to freak out of they stay with this group - why freak out? At the same time, I wouldn't mind if York did a complete house-cleaning, Baalke included.

York is not going to fire JT. He was put in place to guide the team through these ugly times and not complain about it.

i agree. It would show that Jed cares about the Niners. And shows me Jed can admit he made a huge mistake. With just about everything.
I really really really hope we get utterly BLOWN OUT these last 2 games

The Yorks will affirm their utter imcompetance by doubling down on Tomsula. Bank it. I believe the Yorks are actually very happy with JT and he is exactly what they want in a Head Coach. Sure they're disappointed in how things have worked out this year, but I doubt that they see any causal relationship. From their point of view it's just been a matter of "bad luck" and "defections," with maybe a few minor miscalculations tossed in. They'll give their boy Jimmy T another couple years to get it right. Then, if everything goes according to the usual York paradigm, they'll sour on him in year three and fire him somewhere around the end of the season in order to publicly express their displeasure and make it clear that it was all Tomsula's fault.

This is York world.

Guys this is 03-10 all over again history repeating history

And what sucks is we didn't get '79-'02 to tide us over.

Watch how the team plays in reaction to rumors that Tomsula will be retained. If they tank these final two games, which I strongly believe they will, it will be a pretty strong indication from players that Tomsula isn't fit to run the team.

The Yorks will notice this lack of effort as well, and in response, in typical York fashion, will sign Tomsula to a five year extension.

I wish I could be so optimistic. We're looking at another 00's.. if lucky, we'll get something going in the 2020s

not sure how you came to that conclusion. Took Jed 2.5 years to get to the SB
