Go with the hot hand. Gabbert deserves to start for now. Scored more than CK did the past two weeks combined. With a RB picked up last week and no Anquan Boldin.

-makes the OL look better, or did they just coincidentally give up less sacks?
-has a much faster delivery
-much better at evading the pressure, Kap is absolutely terrible at this, and relies more on speed than elusiveness

and he did all of this with the same OC and coaching, but with a bunch of RBs who were free agents last week... a good test will be Seattle

Really too high? It hit him in BOTH of his hands....in stride between the safety and cover guy...I am not a fan I Vance McDonald. I wasn't surprised that he dropped it.

All Kap had was that throw today...nothing to write home about, but too high? C'mon man!

Yes, you can review the play when the All 22 is available. It was classic Kaepernick, throw it in the vicinity of the receiver but not where they can easily make a play on it.

Gabbert just faced a defensive system similar to SEA since Qinn was their defensive coordinator last year. He did exactly what needs to be done vs a cover 3 and that's throwing to RBs and TEs. Back shoulders were the perfect passes against the cover 3.

Atl has 10 sacks on the season....nothing like Seattle. That being said, I think it was a huge win for Gabbert.

If you can throw a perfect 15 yard pass to a WR that allows them to pick up another 10-20 yards, to me thats a huge improvement over playing chuck and duck and hitting the occasional 35 yarder.

You do know they were playing against SEA defensive coordinator last year. That's pretty much what that type of defense gives up.

Notice the passes to the WR's were back shoulders and posts. That's also what works vs a cover 3 or SEA defense.

Phoenix: I absolutely agree. Perhaps I'm partial since the 49er roots are tied to the short passing game, but it opens up so much if defenses are forced to defend precision and timing. The same can be said for Run n' Gun offenses, but the odds are definitely in the WCO's favor since the passes are much higher percentage throws; as a result, our defense also looked much more rested today since our offense actually established a rhythm.

Joecool: Again, I agree. Unfortunately, Kap's style of QB play just didn't fit that mold. Precision back-shoulder passes, short routes in stride, the need for a quick release -- I was a big fan of Kap, but his skillset simply does not fair well against Seattle or Seattle-schemes (i.e., Dan Quinn). I'm not saying Gabbert is the answer, but he is our best option on the current roster.

Double agree you two faced mofo! I also agree with your agreement . Remember, if our receivers caught some of those, then we would have had quite a few 20+ yard completions also.

Gimmie Blaine Gabbert 7 days a week and Twice on SUnday. Now he's got the bye week coming up and hopefully the team can get healthy although I gotta say I really like that Cromartie dude #47 at CB.

Gabbert looked very comfortable and decisive and was very effective. I think he definetly has a future in the league and hopefully as the 49ers Franchise QB maybe build around him and let him go thru his ups and downs since its almost a lost year anyways. As far as Kap goes, he is as good as GONE. Gabbert did what Kap couldn't do. and that deserves a BIG LOL. I bet the WRS/TEs are licking their chops knowing they have a fighting chance now. Imagine if Torrey and Simpson didnt have those drops coulda been an even better game.

We've heard a lot of complaints about our wide receivers over the last few seasons, but I think Kap really needed guys like Crabtree and Boldin who have above average to great hands. His passes are not sharp and on target; they require receivers to go out and get them. Those two guys are really good at that, and, in my opinion, they helped offset Kap's tendency to throw inaccurate (but catchable) balls.

As you described, the throw to Vance was catchable, but it was not a well-placed ball.
