The issue I have with keeping Kap and drafting a young qb to groom is you would need to draft the same type of qb as Kap to make your offense "hopefully" affective. I think we want to get rid of the run first type of qb and draft the supporting players accordingly. Right now I see a lot of players that do not necessarily fit the system we are trying to run. The team needs a qb with a good mind, feet, arm. Not a qb with good legsOriginally posted by LasVegasWally:Originally posted by fropwns:Get off the train. Which means instead of destroying the whole thing, you make a cognizant decision to rebuild aspects of the team. You work with Kap, but you draft a young backup that can be groomed. You bring in a decent coaching staff with a tried and true philosophy that works in the NFL. You stop drafting injured players when you need folks right away. You except that next year might be just as nasty as this; and you do so because remodeling aspects of a home takes time--if you do it right.
You simply get off the train. And start again.
Very well put!

Embrace the train wreck. Believe it or not, the worst thing for the long-term benefit of this franchise was the success that Harbaugh had. It was an anomaly and, for three years, it actually got fans to believe that this FO knew what it was doing.
If you want a sound building, you have to start at the foundation. The foundation of this team is York/Marathe. It is their philosophy that defines who the team hires, the players they acquire and keep. When successful people challenge the York/Marathe philosophy they are terminated (McCloughan/Harbaugh). People that simply agree to operate under the Y/M philosophy are rewarded (Baalke/Tomsula).
For the past 15 years, there have been repeated stories, national stories, confirming that this organization is the most poorly run outfit in the NFL. The only constant that whole time is York and Marathe. It's not a coincidence.
We can't get rid of the owner. But he needs to hit rock bottom. He needs to have his hubris stripped away, through repeated and relentless media reporting his failed philosophy. He needs to have former players and coaches acknowledge the dysfunction. He needs to have fans leave early or don't come and rip the FO on talk radio. To stop this train wreck York must become convinced that Marathe is a problem, not a solution and then, and only then, will he maybe listen to people like his uncle, or former players, or former coaches, and set up an organization that knows football.

I always question this logic. You will draft a qb (preferrably a pocket passer with some scramble skill) and drop him behind this putrid excuse of an offensive line? And then to top it off you're gonna ask him to manufacture points when the D can't sop anyone. Hmm sounds familiar. Look how that's working out for Andrew Luck now now.

Has to start at the very top. Jed needs to make the decision to clean house or Denise has to decide to sell. Don't think either option is very likely, so we'll see a run of mediocrity for awhile.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The York's got what they wanted - a new Stadium and the only way to do that was with a winning football team, so they did what it took. Now that they have it, a winning football team isn't critical. An average team suits them fine.
Jed has to step up or it's gonna feel like the early 2000's all over again.

Get Tomsula and his staff far away from the team. How these idiots haven't replaced a single soul on the line is all I need to know about them.

They'll tank hard....get lots of draft picks, but it'll be Baalke making those picks. Just keep that in mind.
This guy is a mediocre talent evaluator, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Maybe in the first round a blue chipper will fall into his lap, but in the later rounds he'll trade down for more picks and do his usual high quantity/low quality drafting regime which has an abysmal hit rate.

Starts at the top. Until something changes with management (ownership wont change) we will be at the bottom for the next few years at the very least. We have little talent across the board and terrible coaching.
I wonder how many yards Freeman will run for Sunday and Julio will receive. Both should be over the 100 mark easily.

I agree. There does not seem to be any Football expertise in this FO. Baalke is not a good GM. And who the f**k is Paraag Marathe as team president? This guy knows absolutely nothing about football - just sticking his nose where it doesn't belong.

As the long those people are in the FO, we're doomed.
lol kawakami been calling this s**t from day one.
Yup, we have to remove the cancer from the top.

I have a bad vision of a train filled with burning trash dumpsters with JY as the engineer, TB as the conductor doing off a broken trestle into a deep, dark abyss at the bottom of 31 other NFL Teams.....Oh well, time to start meditating or drinking some more.....
