It sounds like this week we intend to go max protect and hope to use routes that get receivers open quickly. In my opinion, our only chance at producing anything would be the following...
In the passing game: Misdirection, trickery, max protect, hot routes, rub/pick routes, RB screens, and timing patterns
In the running game: Traps, Wham plays, and designed QB runs.
That is how I would gameplan for St. Louis.
Wait, we trying to win this game? I like the idea of Trap/Wham runs to take advantage of how aggressive STL's front 4 will be with gaining penetration. Max protect sounds nice but then sending out 2 or 3 routes only makes it harder for those routes to get open. I don't see STL blitzing much because they shouldn't have to. So that's 3 routes versus 7 in coverage. Not sure what their blitz tendency is.
STL's front 4 might be as good as SEA's (or better), but their LBs are not as good as SEA's. I'd like to try again at getting Bush involved in the passing game along with Celek/Vance. I can see Kap rollouts working better as that attempts to attack the LBs. The team can't run screen plays well so I'm still hoping for some draw plays since that attempts to achieve the same purpose - slow down the pass rush.
I would simply implement the option to call for max protect and audible out if not needed in order to give the QB more options. Basically, have the TE and RBs chip their DEs and have the fullback help contain interior rushers on plays he's in.
If we're looking at various formations, I can see us wanting to maintain high tempo and implement a variety of shifts if we can.

I like the kid, Davis he seems nice and now Hyde is out for this game
With Mike Davis' 1.3 yards-per-carry average ranks 95th among players with 15 or more rushes this season.
Davis will start Sunday for #49ers as RB And Davis will occasionally be Rested by bush. They wil not risk bush getting banged up injured going up,middle so will use Davis just like they use Hyde.
With bush catching/ not dropping passes to relive Davis.
Hayne at PR only if not benched. Hope he holds the rock!
Sadly, 49ers to loose again, by 20.

I was thinking the same thing. Box will be loaded and it will open some 1 v 1 coverage. As good as STL front 7 is their back end is not nearly as talented. I know we're not New England in anyway shape or form but they beat the #1 defense (NYJ) by air only. They didn't even try to run the ball. W e have to try to do the same.
Doubt box will be loaded with Bush in the backfield and 3 of 5 Olineman struggling to block...

So with Hyde out, we have no running game, no passing game, 2/5s of an oline, and a confused secondary.
This should be good.

Should have said no "threat" of a running game.

I hope the players don't decide to throw in the towel like some "fans" have. To the team: do your best guys, I'll be rooting for you.

The arrow is pointing down. Being optimistic for a turnaround is setting yourself up for disappointment. This can be turned around with an epic draft and a few key FA moves. Sometimes teams need to s**t the bed to reload on talent. I'm not happy but being in the position to draft impact players early is the silver lining. Think about what drafting Willis did for us, or Aldon (originally), or Davis and Iupati? There was no way we were going to sustain after the turnover. It's better to rip of the bandaid.

I didn't say that I was optimistic - I said I don't want the players to throw in the towel. Do you want the players to give up?
