Hayne's an athlete. He can handle either way. But I still think he favours left to right. I shall not waiver! Lol. On the league players, not all for sure. Tends to be position specific. Locks, hookers, and props don't. Most fullbacks don't. But not many wings or centres play either side. 2nd rowers tend to play one side. Many halves too. Look at Aus vs Kiwis last year. DCE, a rIght edge defender, put on his left. Does nothing for Manly on the left. That's Foran's. Johnson had a field day. Chooks revert to traditional halves pairings so no issue for them. Even greats like Lewis had flaws. Had a great cut out ball one way, but not the other. Bennett neutralised him in Queensland club league finals by having the defence rush up on his favoured side, turning him back in. Lewis said he never rated Bennett until he was told about that plan.Originally posted by Geckko:Sorry misread your post and drinking too much!
Still don't agree with you that league players have a side bias. If you want to play first grade, both have to be second nature. That's the nature of the game. If you play an open side, it gets used and you the need to play the opposite open side.
I have never seen or heard anything to suggest Jarryd has a weak or preferred side. He has classic core skills and carries on the far side pretty much always.
Case in point, his biggest fend so far was in left sweep, bl in left hand, fend with right.
