Why hasn't Purcell seen he field? The way the D-line has played he can surely provide some push up the middle.
Considering Kawan Short of the Carolina Panthers was named NFC defensive player of the week and The Seahawks just signed there x- center, all this tells me that we need to attack there interior line while keeping Wilson in the pocket.

I fully agree, I feel they are trying to limit as many rookies as possible at the moment, until we get a few good results.
But I feel Purcell will add alot to the side. If he got some game time he should shine more every game with confidence .

It seems like they feel like the older players who have game experience would be better fits for the positions. However, just as they put in Tiller, we see the difference. Watch them put Purcell in the game in 2 weeks and our D-line finally starts to serve sacks.

I've been calling for Purcell all year. These dudes aren't getting it done. Let him take a crack at it.

Simpson as the X, Smith as the Y and Boldin and Patton in the slot. Four wides two deep routes and just chuck it to who ever has single coverage. Sure fire big plays because no one will see it coming.

Keep Smith at the X, Boldin/Ellington at the Y and Simpson at the Z.
There's your chunk plays!

I honestly think we don't have much to lose, even though technically we are in the hunt. Let the young guys have at it and learn together. Purcell should be getting the limited snaps that Tank Carradine and Arilk Armstead are getting, and Armstead and Carradine should be playing about 40-50% of the defensive snaps at DE IMO.
As for Jerome Simpson, I'm curious as to how the 49ers use him. We truly have some weapons and we with Kap completing a couple of deep passes to Torrey Smith, he has to be on defenses radar now. It's up to Geep and Kap to take advantage of it.

Because Purcell is a NT and Ian Williams has been doing a pretty good job at that position, game in and game out.

Williams has done a good job but we need someone to collapse the pocket. The way a three four D is made up the parts are interchangeable.

I think this guy can be huge if he plays tonight if Boldin is unable to play, don't trust Patton at all against this defense.

A nose tackle isn't really interchangeable with a DE. You wouldn't want either Williams or Purcell spending most of their time there and Williams has done a terrific job of stuffing the run, a lot of the big runs that this team has given up were with Williams off the field. Dorsey an an example, looked terrific as an NT, but has been so so at best at DE.
With the way Williams has been playing, I don't see them replacing him anytime soon.

No word yet. But I imagine they'd activate him if Boldin can't go.

I have no faith in Patton or Ellington.
