Is the viking game a must win?

Vikes defense sucks! We got this!

I'm seeing a bunch of posts saying "you'll be able to judge how the year will be".......really?

That thinking would have had us believing that VD was going to have an exceptional year after the Dallas game. Or that Kap would throw for 5k yards after the GB game.

The real statement game will be when we play GB and start off the season 4-0

Yes, I believe it is, if only just to establish the tone for our team's season.

That being said, over the years teams have won that first game and lost the rest of them, or lost that first game and won a bunch later. So it may not matter much.

At home, even if the Vikings are tough, this should be a win for the 49ers.

Yeah, the 49ers are young and "unproven" in places, but that doesn't mean they won't be back in the playoff hunt and ultimately in that discussion when the time comes.

this has nothing to do with anything ( imagine that coming from me) but living in iowa I think there is not a worst combination than a iowa hawkeye/viking fan. so arrogant and they really have nothing to be arrogant about. even the packers and chiefs fans in iowa are decent people

I don't think this is a must win game because I strongly feel that we're gonna win here by at least 2 TDs... the team will be so hype due to season's "New Beginning" that everyone will be pumped up and in full wired for this opening..

The will also be super excited to get coach T his first (actually 2nd overall) victory as a HC this year...

agree.. reggie will not see that many carries. i am more excited to see him catch a couple passes out of the backfield. i bet you there will be a huge roar from the crowd the first time the team executes a screen pass. I am also really excited to see kendall back in the fold. of course , as many good posters have said,,, all that stuff I just mentioned is pretty much dependent on the team having a better offensive line than last year. on a side note and its just me. i never get caught up in making alot of predictions on scores, you just set yourself up for anger and disappointment if things go south

1st off, just IMO..

I don't believe that there will be 2 backs ahead of Reggie.. I see Hyde being the starter, but I don't see Reggie behind Hunter or Davis..

I see him carrying 16 times because of the new coaching staff that we have, and since they are new, they will try to get the ball to the RB with the hot hand.. While I see Hyde having a good game (15 carries for 87 yards), I just see Reggie being more explosive due to his experience and his ability to hit that home run..

We really need Bush healthy for the second half of the season..Hyde Hunter Davis..hopefully can get us past the midway point
