In speaking, Kaepernick was passionate, reflective, intelligent...in other words, what many people are always asking athletes to be.

Kaepernick has taken an issue that's been turned into an abstraction and brought it home for people. it's extraordinary, really.

So impressed with Kap's explanation. (See @Eric_Branch's TL) Oozing with thought and genuineness. Not concerned with ramifications.

In 22 years of covering the #49ers, I've never experienced a more interesting hour in the locker room. Incredible stuff, really.

That was probably the most fascinating open #49ers locker room session I've ever witnessed. Kaepernick spoke at length about his rationale..
... He said he's not sitting during national anthem to bash the military but made it clear he'll continue to protest. Wants to effect change

He needs to effect change in his pocket game.

And you executed two cities in Japan, nice done. Are you proud of that, too?

Yup . Glad we nuked them after Pearl Harbor and Bataan, if it would have saved one American life. You proud of Hitler and the Kaiser, lol? Germany is a miserable little place, and I think we should withdraw all of our troops and let Russia have it. Which would take about two days after they shut off your gas.

When you can not affect change in yourself, the only recourse is to affect change upon others.

Who has said that Kaepernick isn't entitled to his opinion? He certainly is. Everyone is. Others are then entitled to form their own opinion of Kaepernick's opinion.

What some seem to want is that because Kaepernick has an opinion, others shouldn't criticize it, that is not how it works.

To me, there seems to be a parallel here in what a teacher can and cannot do in the classroom when it comes to personal opinions about religion or politics: They can talk about what people have done or said in the past, in an academic setting only. However, if a student asks them a specific question about their own views they may answer but must stop short of making any statement that could be taken as endorsing a candidate or political/religious position or asking for a commitment to that position. All of this applies only in the classroom.

Outside the classroom, the teacher can be as much of an individual activist as they want as long as they do not represent themselves as a member of a specific school or district. They can say, "I am a teacher," but must leave it there. So, even though they may be known as being on staff at a specific location, they must not use that as a qualification.

IOW, as long as you are at work, you keep your opinions to yourself. However, if you want to schedule a new conference on your own time next Tuesday, you can say whatever you want.

That fits the Kaepernick situation well, IMO. Though the NFL is not the same as a government-run school, the idea of using employment/position to gain support for a specific position seems the same.

excuse me?

Who caused the two cities in Japan to be executed?

Who needlessly put their citizens in harms way?

Who declined peace overtures and strapped their citizens in to flying bombs for suicide runs?

Its a shame they where not invented sooner, could have saved millions of nonagressors in China and Europe let alone the Jewish populace.

It would have been a much cleaner way to deal with Germany and Japan from the start.

We're all behind these issues. Or should be. But none of you would do this in your boss' office in the middle of a work day.

You talk to the FO, you talk to your teammates and you ask for a private press conference. You ensure everyone is fully prepared for it.

Then you address your concerns publicly about your political concerns and don't answer any football questions. You keep it separate.

Or you do it on your own time and have your girlfriend or colleague interview you so it gets out in the media to large masses.

Like HOW he approached his own trade desire, he did it wrong, and at the expense of everyone with no care for consequences.

Kap is unlikely to be cut or traded so I hope he is improving and available in case BG goes down.

When I was a child I use to point fingers at others when I failed. Luckily I quickly grew out of that.

In lieu of turning the 49ers locker room into a post colonial studies class Kaepernick needs to be studying the playbook while working on his passing with WR's.

His QB career is circling the drain and I feel he is trying to set up a massive excuse.

I read what he retweeted about athletes . That people love them until they speak their mind. That right there tells me he is using this political stunt as cover for his poor play.

It's very very immature and we really shouldnt play along.

No.1: studying is almost for free
No. 2: I don't have to discuss whether everyone has to have a health insurance because everyone is insured.
No. 3: I am proud to live in a country that does not start wars (anymore) that lead to more terrorism.
No .4: I have not to be afraid of overreacting policemen. Fortunately, German policemen seem to be well-educated when it comes down to social interaction.
No. 5: Germany provides a real social security system which leads us to
No. 6: Neither we got gang problems like the US, Brazil etc. nor we got as much inmates as the US.

If a Socialist, like Sanders and a craps**t like Trump have legitimate chances to be the next US President, I would really think twice before stating such a comment like "great country".

No.1: because there arent enough jobs for your youth, so instead of reporting a huge unemployment rate, you can report a huge education rate
No.2: Everyone would be insured here, too, if we didn't have to provide it for almost four times your population.
No.3: No, your country just destroys other economies in the EU.
No.4: That's the beauty of communism: if nobody acts against the party, you don't have to get violent.
No.5: Again, 4 times your population.
No.6: You also don't have the world's poverty stricken trying to enter your country under the guise of a "better life." But I guess you can ignore the poverty stricken Islamic refugees coming into your country, increasing terror acts.

Kap is a communist.

Not sure how a qb can perform with this swirling around his head.

Same with the team. Damn.
