And you know too well that nobody gives a damn about that dude that weighs 345 and just went back for his second jumbo gulp that is sitting during the anthem. Certainly, no one gives a damn about that dude. Though, that dude might try some tofu or something.

99% of the focus is on Kaepernick and not the issues which he purportedly supports.
In anycase this isn't an issue that anyone who hasn't been living under a hole isn't familiar with. He's not reaching out to anyone that the president and any number of people who have broached the subject haven't. This is something that has been in the media for years. What he could be doing is actually working within the community and coming up with some solutions, using his status to bring people together and push for things such as improved police relations....etc.
Any a*****e can sit down during the anthem and post a bunch of hashtags on Twitter, especially as his football career is circling the drain and he doesn't have much left to lose. What he's doing has no bearing on the real world besides bringing a whole lot of attention to himself.
Retweeting Shaun King 500 times is easy, get your hands dirty and putting in the work to affect real world change is hard.

Maybe, just maybe, he needs to do this personally? It is entirely possible that he is doing this because he feels connected to the issue. Now, more to your point, I would like to see him actually get involved. Set some of that salary aside to help some folks in the inner city. Work, as a celebrity, to foster better relations between white and black America. And, you know, improve as a football player.

That is better than the dude on the Broncos who said that if Kaepernick was his teammate he'd stomp on his toes until he stood up.

I'll be shocked if his newfound social activism lasts beyond the end of his current relationship with a politically active and highly outspoken radio host but that is just me being a cynical a*****e.

49ers players say Colin Kaepernick addressed the team. Not all agree with his decision to sit, but teammates support his right to do so.

I feel he needs to be performing better to n the field to make his stand off of it more noteworthy.
It's already national news it's not going to be much more noteworthy if he had won the job already. You don't wait until it's convenient to make a statement you feel is that important. I respect Kaep more for doing when it could be the most costly for him. Could cost him the chance to start and prevent other teams from signing him because of the backlash he's received. I also agree with DeHubb, he's protesting in a way that harms NO ONE. Except maybe himself.

Who knows what he becomes....

I have to disagree with the bolded. There is no way to know at this point how his protest will sit with guys in the locker room who might have a different perspective on this issue. Seems to me that one of his primary goals this off season was to try and win back a locker room that many reports suggested that he had lost, or maybe never even had. While I have no problem with his choice I can't really see how this helps him with his teammates
I know if I were a player on the 49ers I would be disgusted to have someone like that on my team. Giving the team a bad name for dumb acts like that that he caused on his very own, I'd want him outta here asap
Are you black? If you aren't would be minority on the team, so you'd have no idea how the majority of the players would feel about what Kaep did. For all you know it could have made his teammates respect him more.
