There's no shortage of QBs who regularly make anticipation throws and don't have tons of picks (e.g. Manning, Brady, Rodgers), as well as no shortage of QBs who don't make anticipation throws and do throw a ton of picks (e.g. Cutler, Stafford).

Anticipation throwing is a skill-set that can exist largely independently from decision making and ball placement/accuracy.

So according to you Kaep doesn't make 'anticipation throws' then cite QBs who don't and their INTs. Yet Kaep doesn't throw a bunch of INTs. Which one is it because the logic doesn't make sense.

The logic makes perfect sense if you accept the basic premise that "Anticipation throwing is a skill-set that can exist largely independently from decision making and ball placement/accuracy."

Actually it doesn't because accuracy is a big part of timing and anticipation. Decision making and anticipation are two different things as well. Based on your premise Kaep would throw a bunch of INTs yet he doesn't. You cite Cutler and Stafford as examples but both throw a lot of INTs and Kaep does not.

A lot of 49ers "fans" hate Kap and think he's no good, but it makes me wonder how these people dealt with Alex Smith for so long...

You either weren't here then or have forgotten the war zone that was the Alex Smith threads.

Yeah!! War zone is no exaggeration. This place needed a United Nations peacekeeping force. The Smith haters wouldn't even use his name correctly.

With a decent line I think Kaepernick will be fine. I would like an alternative, though. Someone we could call our 2nd stringer.

Haha we didn't.

Kap is on a short leash with some fans and i think with the team also. There are already lots of rumblings around here.

I think he steps it up this season and shuts that talk down.

I'd take Kaep over every QB that has warn a 49er uniform since Garcia. This is what frustrates me with the malcontents. Very few would state otherwise unless they're shamelessly defending their harsh assessment or haven't paid any attention to 49er football pre 2012.

That's was based on poor oline and poor play calling.

I was watching the raider game with my raider friend and he turned to me and stated: "wow, the 49ers line is having an off game." I burst out laughing and told him this was one of their better showings this season. ...

That absolutely pissed me off. Steve Young get's sacks, the OL is the first over to help him up and take accountability. There was NO accountability for our pathetic line "play." None. I don't know about you, but if I was the FO I would be livid...watching the guy you just gave $100M to constantly picking himself up off the ground after big hits and sacks.

our pass protection has been horses**t since 2011 no matter the qb. I do not know if the losses we had and the new blood we have will make it better,, but come one, something had to be done. the problem areas which were problem areas since 2011 have NEVER been addressed. bad pass protection, bad clock management, inability to know how to use time outs etc. at least we are addressing those things., at least the team is doing SOMETHING about it. I was always of the mind set lupati was no loss at all

I'm pretty sure Kaepernick's fellow players notice that he never blames anyone but himself for a failed play or game.
well said cc and NC. I never quite figured out how we had such a stellar OL, when our QB got NO as in zippo protection. Sure, Iupati could run block, but that is just 50% of the game. Harbaw was happy with the OL blocking for frank, but our QBs got short shrift. I guess one could say our OL was top 5 run blocking, bottom of barrel on qB pass pro.

I agree. I know that last season is the last image that fans have of Kap, but they have to remember that damn near everything went bad last season! Hope he turns it around and makes us proud
If the passing game improves this year, defenses are going to have a heck of a problem dealing with Kaepernick. How many QB's in the league can make you pay with a 90-yard TD scramble if the containment breaks down?

Agree! It seemed that the culture of the team was either blame the QB or the OL didn't respect/like Kaepernick. Either way they didn't seem to mind that he was being battered. Would really like to see some fire from the OL when there's a sack. Put some passrushers on their backs. The team needs a guy like Jeremy Newberry...tough and angry as a player.
