Well, I don't expect any real news hear until the next OTA's later this month...lets hope there is actually something to analyze at that point. Right now the only real facts we have are:
1. Kaepernick is still a 49er.
2.He is still injured and can't participate.
3. His agents asked for the opportunity to explore trade offers.
4. Said trade offers included offering the $49ers a pair of wet trading cards found in the gutter next to the Pittsburg Bart station and demanded that Kaep take a 40% paycut and compete for a job.
5. The request to explore trades has not been publicly rescinded.
6. Completely out of options, he is now "kind of Digging Chip Kelly"

But our defense sucked, every time we needed to make a play, we couldn't get off of the field.
Fact is in the post season of 2012, the defense stepped up EXACTLY when the team needed them to, allowing only 23 points in the second half of 3 games:
vs. Green Bay, they only allowed 10 points in the second half.
vs. Atlanta, they did not allow any points not even a field goal in the second half.
vs. Baltimore, they only allowed 13 points in the second half. One touchdown in the 3rd quarter and two field goals in the 4th quarter.
How is that not stepping up in the playoffs?? Remember it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Lmfao maybe because they gave up 25 a game? Doesn't matter when the points were given up, they gave them up. If you make the SB having 25 a game dropped on you, you got carried by the offense. Find me another team that made it that far giving up 25 a game. Defenses don't get carried that far, our offense was just amazing.

Is too late now. Kap chose money over salvaging his career and now we are stuck with him until we cut him. Denver can play Paxton Lynch as and when they feel he is ready.

I have no ill will towards him, but I can't believe the absolute fanaticism of some over him. He played pretty well, 3-4 years ago. He might be ok again given the right circumstances. I am just hoping to get through this season, with fair QB play, an improved defense, and some respectability and a little stability going into next season. He might be able to do that. I have no more expectations than that. But if he isn't the answer, I am certainly not going to cry over it, like some of his rabid followers will. And conversely if he does ok, I will be glad to take it.
His inability to recognize there was problem when he was benched, " I dont need to catch my breath", his delaying his surgeries to off season after he was benched, with the timing then being he would get paid no matter what, his request to be traded after being told he was wanted back, all leave a bad taste in my mouth as a fan. He should have taken Steve Young's advice, manned up, announced that he was digging in and planning on battling for a job, and it would have been easy for me to root for the guy. As it is... if he ends up gone he shouldn't let the door hit him in the butt.

In SF he has to beat out the guy who took his job last year that is obviously more studious and has a head start on him. If Kap played a year in Denver and goes 10-6 he would increase his value well above the current $7 mil the league thinks he is worth. If he stays in SF he will collect $15 mil this year but when Gabbert beats him out he might get RG3'd and his value will drop to the $3-$5 mil scrub class, if anyone even wants him.

Even if he wins the job over Gabbert, the Niners as a team may not have a winning record or at best another average year, Kaep will not look as good compare to starting in Denver, and possibly a playoff team. The team's record affect his value too. That's just the way people view a player's value, especially at qb.
If he has a good year with Denver, most people would not care to remember his 2015 season.

Why are people still of the opinion that Kap should have taken a $5M paycut to play in Denver? A $7M salary is so ridiculously below NFL starting QB salaries. If I am Kap and I see Sam Bradford and Brock Osweiler making $18M a year, there is no way I am playing for $7M a year.

Keep clinging to this stupid argument. I hope it makes you feel better about Kap being a trash QB.

um... because he wasn't going to take a pay cut? He would have gotten his entire salary, split between two teams.

Kap being a trash QB now has zero to do with how he played in 2012.

Read the post above you...it makes sense from a career longevity perspective. It is very risky to stay here, even assuming you think he is really actually a good QB. which opinions vary. He is coming off an injury and up against a guy with a big head start to be starter this year. Now even assuming he gets over that hurdle we are still a pretty bad team compared to Denver, who will ask him to actually do very little but man the ship and hit a few splash plays. Meanwhile here, he could still have a very bad go of it this year, which he will take an admittedly disproportionate chunk of the blame for, but none the less will be complicit in. Unless he is fully prepared to carry this team in a new offense with all the risk that come with that he could easily be out of the league or cut outright this time next year and struggling to find ANY deal much less the one Denver is offering which is a shot at a superbowl for less money and if he pulls that off winning will remove all the stink of the last two years anyway and he then negotiate for a lot more certain contract.

um...what?
The 49ers WERE NOT going to pay a portion of his salary.
Kap isn't a Bronco because he didn't want to take the paycut. Period. Nor should he.

Kap is probably the most unathletic athletic player for the position he plays.

How is calling out lies about our defense stepping up in the playoffs clinging to Kap? I just don't get why you guys have to lie to yourselves. Maybe it makes you feel better about Kap taking your boys job?
