Don't know, but I really don't care. You don't let great talent just walk out the door for nothing. Demand no less than 2 1st and 2 2nd's to run teams off, or teams will just have to wait until his contract expires and hope we don't franchise him if he plays well this season. I know I'm in the minority about this based off the comments I'm reading, but I really don't give a damn. I have no love for our FO I think they are a bunch of immature petulant children full of hubris. But you just don't let good talent just walk out the door because they're unhappy. Don't work that way. Don't know if fans here have realized but NFL QB's are expensive commodities, and they don't grow on trees, and you can't exactly find that kind of employee on Linkedin or Indeed.

As it stands the 49ers have all the leverage and don't have to do anything. Plus, there isn't another QB on the 49ers roster with his talent nor resume. Even with the bad season Kaep remains our best option for Chips offense. The best thing the 49ers should do is make Kaep play out his contract, draft a QB with our first pick, and let him sit behind Kaep for a season (or Kaep and Gabbert). This is the best play for the team because it allows the team to groom a top talent without having to force a rookie into action.

But by no means should we trade Kaep, no matter how disgruntled. IMHO

The last thing the locker room needs is a cancer. IF Kaep really wants out that's all he is at this point.

This.

He is under contact for 4 more years.

So according 9ersliC, the 49ers should eat tens of millions in contract money to keep a disgruntled player that the locker room has evidently turned against just to prove a point..............

As a Suns fan, I saw what keeping a disgruntled player and forcing him to play does for your team chemistry with Markieff Morris.

Keeping Kaepernick is a non-starter at this point. Baalke will play teams off of each other and get the best deal that he can.
Kaep another example of a qb putting too much into his physical ability and thinks he will have longevity in the NFL.
I've been a supporter of his but at this point, with the recent trade news, I'd say he's as good as gone. Asking permission for a trade can't reflect well on the locker room.

How could a sane person write that? Maybe they went in a coma after the 2012 Super Bowl and just woke up, even then maybe someone would have traded a late first for him at most.

Miacco was on the radio yesterday and he said he was surprised the Niners are keeping Kap. From his words, he said the players are highly in favor of Gabbert.

Not sure what to tell other than the fact that most of Kaps teammates don't want him around, not just the front office.

Just like the reports that the players backed Kaep when he became the starter? Winning cures all. Just wait till your buddy Gabbert continues to lose, you think he will have a vocal group? The same group that wishes they had him in Jacksonville?

Winning does indeed cure all but you aren't really looking at it with an objective eye. You can be a jerk and be amazing, you can be a nice guy and be poor at your job. What you can't be is both bad at your job and a not well liked by your teammates....that is when they turn on you. Right now I would say that is where Kap is. They were putting up with his attitude when he was helping win games...because the man was doing his job at a high level and that, when dealing with professionals trumps all. Now he is a shell of his early self on the field and his attitude and treatment of fellow players by many counts has gotten worse year by year right along with his play. By contrast Gabbert while not really getting massively better results on field has learned from his mistakes at his previous job and is doing a good job of being an excellent friend and team mate he is showing leadership qualities that are buying him the benefit of the doubt with the locker room even when the results are nothing spectacular like the were early on for Colin. When it comes to the most important position on the roster...this stuff matters, the guys have to want to follow their field general into the trenches and if we do keep Kap, he is going to have to find a way to win that love and respect back or no matter how well he plays personally the season will be lost before we get started.

You know who beat and still beats Seadderall?

That's right, Alex. Because he respects and utilizes the short passing game, he can beat the pass rush and get underneath their secondary.

Kaepernick tried to play them like they were any other team. Sit in the pocket waiting for these long passes to open up. Run if it doesn't. He can't pass short worth a damn, and passing short and handing off the ball to Frank was how we consistently beat Seadderall until Kaepernick was anointed the starter.

Uh what?

Kap did beat the Cardinals for 7 times. Yep we had a great defense that we beat them cuz Cardinals defense was process time yet. Now we are not a great defense then kap can win but he cant. Cardinals was pretty good defense than few years ago. Cardinals did beat to kap for two times at 2015.

I am not denying. I want true with everything my exactly cuz i know about football. I know about win games and football that it is easy for me.

What are you talking about? Kaep lost once this year to the Cards. All those other times Kaep won..it was the defense? LMAO

And with this post, I'm out.

That's a fair trade.

This actually is on the high end of what I am hoping for...Not really an aggregate gain in number of picks, but boy those handful of spots in the top two rounds would land us so much more in terms of impact. Lets face it this roster is loaded with solid but unspectacular, what we need is a handful of game breakers...not more warm bodies who just do the job as good enough level.
Kap can say he wants out all he wants but at the end of the day the Niners hold all the leverage here
