It is like a strange cult following to me. Fact, per the numbers Kap was a borderline top 10 QB for two seasons (2012,2013). He was below average (2014) and bottom 5 (2015). His numbers have trended down from the beginning, if Kaepernick was a stock looking at the numbers no one would buy it hoping for a rebound in price. People who weren't impressed with him have been called all kinds of names by his supporters, belittled as to knowing nothing about football and even called racist. As I see it Kap gave the 49ers two good years and two bad ones.
What about Vernon Davis? 2 time Pro Bowler, At least 5 times a top 10 player at his position. Two bad years that could possibly be because of injuries or father time caught up with the beating his body has taken over the years. Some 49er fans were saying he had a Hall of Fame career going. Yet when he falls off I was one of a couple guys saying maybe it was injuries knowing a bad back can make everything difficult. Most of the fan base called him all kinds of names, even questioning his manhood. Not even the biggest Kap hater has heaped the scorn on him that Vernon got by the hundreds.
Vernon gave us at least 5 good to great years and two bad ones. Kaepernick is at 2 good two bad. If their careers ended today all "non" 49er fans and the media talking heads would say Vernon was a far better tight end than Kaepernick was a quarterback. So why the major difference in attitude toward them in here? Serious question, someone please explain.
I support them both. Davis was a great 49er and Kaepernick is the best QB on the roster IMO.
