Seriously, can a Kap fan dig down inside themselves and explain why a player that has played poorly for the last two years is still held in such high regard by a good many fans in here? It is like a strange cult following to me. Fact, per the numbers Kap was a borderline top 10 QB for two seasons (2012,2013). He was below average (2014) and bottom 5 (2015). His numbers have trended down from the beginning, if Kaepernick was a stock looking at the numbers no one would buy it hoping for a rebound in price. People who weren't impressed with him have been called all kinds of names by his supporters, belittled as to knowing nothing about football and even called racist. As I see it Kap gave the 49ers two good years and two bad ones.

What about Vernon Davis? 2 time Pro Bowler, At least 5 times a top 10 player at his position. Two bad years that could possibly be because of injuries or father time caught up with the beating his body has taken over the years. Some 49er fans were saying he had a Hall of Fame career going. Yet when he falls off I was one of a couple guys saying maybe it was injuries knowing a bad back can make everything difficult. Most of the fan base called him all kinds of names, even questioning his manhood. Not even the biggest Kap hater has heaped the scorn on him that Vernon got by the hundreds.

Vernon gave us at least 5 good to great years and two bad ones. Kaepernick is at 2 good two bad. If their careers ended today all "non" 49er fans and the media talking heads would say Vernon was a far better tight end than Kaepernick was a quarterback. So why the major difference in attitude toward them in here? Serious question, someone please explain.

I support them both. Davis was a great 49er and Kaepernick is the best QB on the roster IMO.

I don't find calling an athlete that worked his butt off to get the pros and likely worked harder than most of us "trash" to be a coherent opinion.

He won road play-off games and went to a Super Bowl.

Now, I will give you that he has not shown signs of being elite - sometimes not even middle of the pack.

But he certainly isn't "trash"

Thank you!
So how was it ok by the masses to say two time pro bowler Vernon Davis had female body parts? That is a lot worse than calling a player trash. Please explain as 100's of people said than about Vernon.

I wouldn't call ANY athlete who has made it to the NFL 'trash.' That's just ugly IMO. I'm not sure why you think I ever said anything about Davis other than he looked a little wary of contact at times - I think I remember making that criticism. I didn't like the way he had to open his big mouth when he left throwing shade on both Kaepernick and Alex Davis - just shut up and be happy you're a Bronco. I have no explanation for why anyone would say he had "female body parts." I wouldn't ever say something like that because I have great respect for women.

As far as Kaepernick is concerned, I would respectively suggest that you relax a bit. I don't share your abject disdain for the guy, but I would never argue that he's a functioning franchise QB right now. I thought for a while that he could possibly turn into that, but obviously that's not what happened. Bottom line now is that we don't know what's going to happen. I don't agree at all that it's a lock that Kelly wants him. I think it's just as possible that Kelly would want to keep Gabbert as a serviceable vet while drafting somebody to groom as a possible franchise QB. And that's fine with me - whatever they think they need to do - because all I want is good quarterback play regardless of who's name is on the jersey.
If Chip really doesn't want Kap, then I'd rather have Gabbert over Bradford.

Or QB in the first?
Chip Kelly had a chat with Colin Kaepernick on Monday per @mattbarrows #49erNews
Chip doesn't want Kap. Why? Repetitive Inaccuracy
Yup. Read the article Matt barrows posted before the kap tweet. Chip values repetitive accuracy above mobility. Sorry kap, but your time here is over.

Kelly also wants the QB to make quick decisions and have a very quick release. That's why I've always felt it was just as possible he'd want to stick with Gabbert anyway. Unless Kaepernick finds he can think quicker and get rid of the ball quicker, he may not be Kelly's first choice.

CBS Sports has them taking Paxton Lynch with the #7 pick.

Who in CBS sports
The 49ers have to elevate Kap as much as they can so they can trade him. By flat out saying Kap is gone, we get nothing for him. We have to say he is in the mix.

I just looked back and it was just CBS sports reporting that NFLDraftScout.com had a mock draft that has the Niners taking him at #7.
