I see a Cam Newton like turnaround with Kap

People were laughing at Cam too

Even at his worst, I still considered Cam a top 10 QB in the league. He hasn't always put up the most efficient passer ratings, but his team always moves the ball and he's the most effective runner at the position. He also has a horrible group of WR's around him and has had a poor offensive line most of his career. He's like Kaepernick with better vision and pocket awareness, better size and strength, and a little more accuracy. He also protects the ball better when rushing and doesn't play scared.

I don't know if Kaepernick is top 20 right now. It's debatable whether he's the best QB on this team. I'm rooting for Kaepernick or Gabbert to step up, but neither one of them have Cam's raw talent.

There were (and really still exists) a significant portion of Panther fans that absolutely did not consider Newton a franchise QB going into this season. I can point you to articles and Panthers fans that absolutely thought that giving Newton 100 million was a huge mistake and that he should be on a "prove it contract." In fact, I would say many considered Kaepernick a better passer AND better runner than Newton.

Go back and find those articles on Profootballtalk or the Carolina Huddle regarding Newton's contract extension.

Going into this season, many thought Kaepernick=Newton. Many saw Colin and Cam as one in the same, mediocre. Wilson as slightly better being carried by his defense. Dalton as a good starter. And Luck as a God.

Wilson and Newton are following the path of normal great QBs. BUT IT TAKES EXPERIENCE THEREFORE TIME. It takes repetition. Something the 49ers are, for whatever reason, unwilling to give Kaepernick. Yet the Tannehills, Ryans, Staffords, Lucks, Cutlers, and Cousins of the world will get that opportunity.

There is no doubt in my mind that Kaepernick was on this same path before the idiots that run the 49ers caved to the morons that demanded Kaepernick benched.

NBC's Rodney Harrison wanted Newton benched last year. There are Panthers fans that I can assure will want Newton benched next season if he doesn't have a MVP type season.

Have you seen Cams receivers? LMAO! Makes our group like the greatest show on turf. Cam made the players around him better. Has Kap ever made anyone better? no. If anything he's made players worse ie Torrey smith.

Yep. The same thing was said about Newton as late as November of 2015.

You want proof? Go take a look at the Brady vs. Newton MVP debate articles. Many writers explicitly claimed that Newton could not make his WRs better and that is why Newton had such mediocre stats.

Really?

I watch Cam and he is like the most pumped guy who has ever played the game. Sort of guy where if say every reserve Defensive player suddenly keeled over and died he'd be the first to say "Put me in coach, I'll play both sides." Looks like he freaking loves that team.

I watched Kap this season and it's like if he went over and sat down on the other team's bench accidentally he'd wouldn't notice until someone pointed it out. Never seen a player in any team sport appear to give less f**ks about who he was playing for.

Maybe he's just a quiet guy... I dunno but I don't care if he fits Chip's scheme, he should go find a team he does give a s**t about.
The thing about Cam is that he's such a physical force. He reminds me a bit of Dante Culpepper, in the sense that both of them can run over defensive players. Kap is more finesse than that, his ability to escape pressure has always been overrated.

Buddy you're right but you're wasting your time with the guys on this thread. They're like impatient children, who can only focus on what they want right in this instance with no ability to consider circumstance or the future and then throw a tantrum when they don't get it.

The absolute irony in all of this is that apparently Kelly was desperate to trade for Kap, as was Hue Jackson. Both are considered extremely intelligent, gifted offensive coaches. But obviously they know nothing compared to the people on this thread who think Kap is the worst human being and football player ever

You Kap apologists are hilarious. Impatient? This is his 5th year in the NFL and 4th year playing. You apologist act like he's spring chicken learning the game. He'll be 29 this upcoming season. What exactly are we being impatient about? He's on the verge of being a 30-year-old quarterback that needs to be "fixed".

So 4 years playing, 2 NFC Championship games and 1 Superbowl. Right?

Yup, the same Superbowl he overthrew Crabtree on a fade vs cover 0, which every competent QB expects contact at line for their WR so they put a little more air under the ball to let their receiver make a play on it. And the NFC championship where he under threw Crabtree and let Richadd Sherman tip drill it to end Malcolm Smith to end the game?

Yup, those games.

Ya, you would have done better. You probably can't even grip a football.

Equals more than is on the roster
I'm not on either side when it comes to Kaep but there are less than a handful of qb's who can consistently make that throw that you are referring to in the superbowl. That tip drill interception in the NFCCG was one hell of a play by Richard Sherman and it took one hell of an effort to get a few fingers on that ball. I guess people will only see what they choose to see.

So he gets the blame for those plays, who gets credit to be in those situations?
Also, I would blame the coaches and play calling, in those two situations, to be the biggest factors in why we failed in both instances.

There's a few national media outlets really taking this "Kap wasn't aware of Niners hiring Chip Kelly before announcing it" and making it some controversial issue. Who gives a s**t. Did they personally run out to Boldin, Staley, Bowman or Reid and tell them they're going to hire Chip as the new HC before releasing it publicly to the media? Kap's off in Colorado doing rehab/recovery and everyone else is scattered around. They don't owe these players one damn thing as to why or when they're hiring the replacement for a buffoon. You'd think Kap is pleased as punch they're bringing someone like Chip Kelly on board. He's probably thinking "Hell, at least we'll be scoring a lot more points".
