Will our offense be better than our defense next season?

^^ Add RB to that list as a possible...Hyde is good but Bush will compete and if they take a RB in round 3 or 4 there are some guys who will give him a run for his money (pun intended).

LG: for sure...among Thomas, M Martin, Looney and a rookie.
WR: T Smith replaces Crabtree and/or Johnson with Ellington, Patton and a rookie pushing.
RB: Hyde, Bush, rookie (Hunter may compete but he isn't likely our new bell cow).
TE: VD needs to reprove himself and stay healthy but a TE with a bad back is a problem. McDonald competes? Or a rookie? Celek and Carrier are good backups.

These are major changes and could be really exciting or perhaps take while to develop. Of course I'd prefer the former!
J. Smith is an all time great 49ers. Can u even think what he wouldve been like in a 4-3 defence... HALL OF FAME

The offense is miles behind the D still. Its not as if the offense has the same personnel (Crabtree, Lloyd, SJ, Iupati, Gore). And our offense was hard to watch last year.

Defensively we should still be able to generate a consistent pass rush (assuming no arrests), with young CBs and solid Safeties.

I think its realistic for our D to finish top 12 in the league. As for offense, i would be very happy with 15-20th. (we have not solved any redzone problems in terms of personnel yet).
If our new coaching staff can get a decent pass-blocking effort from our revamped O-line, I believe Kaep can carry this team even with a weakened defense.

I agree. Kap is deadly, dare I say top 5 with great pass protection.
Offence will be better than the offence last year, hard to do worse than 25th. Play calling can't get much worse. Pass protection can't get much worse. WR and TE play can't get much worse.

Defense will be around the same. Easier Schedule. I'm in the minority but I think we win at least 10 games.

12 and a division title. our offense will be damn good and our defense is still pretty loaded. expect a few rooks to come in and contribute too like every other year. we'll be just fine fellas

I agree.

In the end it will all come down to how much Kaepernick has improved. If he can play like an NFL passing QB, I think we will all be pleasantly surprised at how good the offense will be. Last season the Harbaugh mess was a mill stone around our neck all year. Chryst won't have to be the second coming of BW, just be good and the team will be much better.

I believe by mid-season we will have clear evidence as to how much HaRo held this team back last season....I hope.

Of all the news I have heard about the team so far this off-season, the Reggie Bush signing excites me the most. If Chryst can put him in the same role he had in New Orleans, it will have a huge impact on the offense. He is special in a broken field off screen passes. Payton used him very well in that role. If Chryst just copies what he sees on film from that time, the offense will improve. Any time the defense has to worry about screen plays the pass rush slows down. So add CK's ability to scramble around and run, to Bush's potential on screen plays and the OL job of pass pro gets a whole lot easier.

All that is not to second-rate the T Smith signing but I just think adding some dimension to the attack out of the backfield will make a great deal of difference.

I hope our new Defence coach will do it...

Enter susweel with the doom and gloom. Just to throw it in, why not just say you believe the NFLN poll sating the Raiders will have a better record than the Niners this season.

I actually think Offense will improve to middle of the pack between 14-18 ranking. The defense I think will slip a little just because of the loss of players like Raymac, Willis, Borland, Cox and Cully but still be top 10 due to the new more aggressive scheme Mangini will use.

I hear this enthusiasm. The signing alone, for me, triggers one thing...we're going to utilize the RB's in the passing game again. That one single thing alone would have been enough to beat Seattle multiple times and cause the Dick-tip to fall harmlessly for an incompletion.
