If we "regress a bit" from last year's offense... we will be "terrible"

more terrible than the puke that we were under the previous staff
The one thing that worries me the most about our defense next year is that we're going to be more aggressive. That leaves the DBs in a lot more 1 on 1 situations and the guys we have are pretty young and inexperienced for the most part. Brock who I believe is the most veteran starter is also someone who plays fairly aggressive.

If our pass rush isn't on point next year we could see a lot of huge plays given up.

I think so. Our defense has a lot of turnover going on right now between personnel and coaching.
Our offense better than defense
There looks to be a better balance between the two sides of the ball. The offense can't be as bad, and the defense should take a dip, but not necessarily a major plunge. The middle of the defense is a concern. Mangini likes to use a large NT they will have to find one in the draft, no free agents look the part. So NT may be weak, or not up to his scheme; ILB will be a learning process and it will depend on Wilhoite and Bowman being healthy; and safety has Reid's concussion to worry about. Any one of those areas can impact the team, all together (if everything goes wrong) could be devastating.

Many will say Williams and Dorsey are just fine...but fine and healthy may not be enough with new ILBs. Borland was a great rookie and helped cover problems in the middle when both Willis and Bowman went down. Gone. Coaching staff has a huge job this offseason and camps.

If they can move Kaepernick around and keep him healthy the offense should be better--T Smith and Bush will add new dimension to the offense. CK and Bush may be a better fit than CK and Gore...a quick, outside threat for Kaepernick to use when the blitz comes.

I wouldn't bet on it. Offense hasn't been top 20 in like a gajillion years.

If the offense is better than the defense it means we have a really really bad defense. Our record won't be any better.

Good call.

A health OLine will be crucial.

If Justin returns - which I feel he will - then the D will be a force.

Yeah, not since Lance Shulters was our best player on defense!
maybe having a defense that lost a lot of firepower will push this new offense to be more creative until the defense catches up. might not be a bad thing. tired of seeing our offense this predictable.
Not sure. Aldon will probably be the best player on our team so i'll go with D.

"Our offense is already way more explosive"

I like your optimism, but how exactly are they "already way more explosive", By signing Torrey Smith and Kaep getting a few weeks of outside tutelage? This offense has been anything but explosive, more like implosive, so lets watch a few games first before we start making those types of bold statements.

That said, I do like the signing of Smith and the fact Kaep is taking the initiative to get better, but history has proven that defenses tend to be the most robust in these types of situations. I think the offense will be better than what a lot in the media are saying, but explosive, we"ll see.

I think just getting rid of HaRoman's play calling probably makes the Offense more explosive.
